Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I only know my son is 02/942 and his PIR is 8/29. If you read the page about 800/900 divisions it says that they will help with 8/15 and 8/22.

I'm so lost and confused. lol

I'm the step mom. My son (he's lived with us 100% of the time since he was in 1st grade) is giving all the info to his mom since they reconnected in the last month. So she is giving me the information. But one and one isn't making two when I look at what individuals are saying here...
She gave me ship 2 div 942 but says his graduation date is the 21st. Which I know isn't right since that is a Thursday. I asked her to check again and let me know but haven't heard for sure.

So... There is only one ship 2 div 942. Right!?

I booked at the Navy Lodge.  They only take your CC for holding the room and don't charge it until you check in. We got a kitchenette for $71/night with 2 queen beds.  REALLY a GREAT deal!

We are getting our plane tickets through Southwest and I think they are having a sale right now.  They are the easiest to change.  I don't know about full refunds, but they are very flexible.  One of the best out there for that.

Is southwest refundable? And I heard the navy lodge is good
Comment by candacengj/ATO mom on July 12, 2014 at 10:28pm

Southwest and I haven't chosen a hotel yet.  There are so many.  What are the best and cheapest? :)

Yes Sierrascrapper I'm excited to see what exactly it means.

Tracy123...HOW COOL!  I recently read about one division that was sponsored by the Blue Angels.  I don't know as much about the whole thing, but I read that they were doing the sponsoring thing more often. I'm sure the Veteran Moms know even more about it.

I bet you were in 7th heaven this morning!

Thanks for that info Diannep!  That is AWESOME!

Oh and nurse0419...my son wrote Mom Dad Brother on his form letter list.  I kinda laughed because I had heard the SRs do that a lot.  Poor kid was probably so stressed out. My hubby thought maybe it was because he didn't have the info, but I printed out a sheet with our exact names and phone #s and address along with several other contacts he might need for security reasons.
