N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Hello all! So excited to know when my boy will go through PIR!  Hopefully we will have a chance to meet Labor Day weekend!  :-)

The callsforrecruits cards are wonderful, but they are really only good for one call.  So it is best if you mail your SRs other phone cards with at least 250-300 minutes on it.

Amp-- My son arrived the same day and time as yours and I just got his letter yesterday. You should get yours soon.  I'd guess either today or tomorrow.  Waiting is the hardest.  Praying that your letter has a note and comes soon.

emroha2-- Thanks for the tears and the phone call by proxy. My son is one of the kids your hubby is looking after.  It has been so hard to let him go and not know anything about how he's doing.  All I've heard is a note on the inside of the box that said "miss you already".  I did get the letter yesterday so his letters are in the mail and on the way there.  I really hope they get to write this weekend.  Tell your DH that Evan's mom said "Hi." I am really looking forward to 8/30  and getting to meet you all in person.  My DH said that we'd either all go to PIR and I could go alone to Mississippi or I'd go alone to PIR and we'd all go to Mississippi but either way I get to see him both times!!

I didn't know about sending my son with calling cards but I got 8 from  the wonderful folks on here and I sent them in his first letter with the same instructions to share with anyone who didn't have a card so if anyone talks to their SR let them know to find Evan (Ship 13 Div 321) and he should get them in Mail call soon, they went out this morning.  He only got the 8 that they sent but I'll let him know that I can get more he just needs to let me know.  Come on Mail call and phone call!!!

emroha2: when did you get your form letter from your hubby? My son got there around 230am on 6-27 and we still haven't received the letter.
Comment by timmysmom on July 12, 2013 at 4:19pm

emroha2: for the phone cards I simply said "that my son (gave name) left for the Navy on 7/1. It would be wonderful to get him started on some calling cards and that his PIR is 8/30." I also mentioned how much I appreciate what they do for our troops. I received the codes the same night and am able to include them in my letter to my son.
