OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Welcome to the group everyone!.

Yeah! We have a dad in this group. Hi pat e!

emroha,

PIR=Pass In Review (graduation).

TG=Training Group

This is the 42 TG of the Navys fiscal year and your SRs started the TG with the 321 division of the fiscal year.

NO QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS ARE DUMB! Ok maybe some are.

There will be no response to questions like "What color bra do I wear with the see through blouse I just bought for PIR, and is it ok if it is a push up bra?" That would be a dumb question, and if asked, one of us may respond with

"GO BUY A NEW BLOUSE"

Usually the number coincides with the number of Training Groups for the current year

I just read the info from lemonelephant about the different Ships.  How cool for my son to be on Ship 13 the Marvin G Shields since he is going to be a BU after boot.  God is most assuredly in this for him.  Love my SR Son!!

PIR stands for Pass in Review

Comment by belovedbyHim on July 10, 2013 at 2:15pm

Glad to see this page up.  Still waiting for the "letter" but the info I have from the recruiter indicated that my son's PIR date would be 30Aug.  He should be Ship13 Div321.  Waiting till the letter comes to confirm and then I can FINALLY start sending him mail!!!  I'm past the crying every minute phase but I still miss him terribly.  He was in DEP for a year but I never knew about this group till the day before he shipped out.  He left 6/26 and due to weather delays arrived in the wee hours of 6/27.  We got the "box" on 7/2.  I pray that the "letter is in the mail today!!  Praying that you all get your letters soon too.

im sorry but this might be a dumb question I have gathered from a bunch of reading that PIR stands for the graduation but what does the TG 42 stand for ?
