N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Received phone call from my SR after only being in boot camp since June 27.  Called to say Hi..he sounded so upbeat and he said he has met some nice young men.  My son is Ship 13, Div 321.  What a way to start a Saturday.  The call came from 847 area code.  Oh I am in seventh heaven Ladies!!  Happy tears

Good morning everyone. I hope you all have a great Saturday and some of you get an awesome surprise phone call that is wonderful :)

CatMom 509 Thank you for the suggestion of call fwding!  I hadn't thought of that.  I do NOT want my daughter to call & get the answering machine. And the bible verses are water to my soul.

momof2finegirls & Jackie my daughter & her friend (another girl) are in ship 2 div 942 also!  Will you be going to Sarge's Meet & Greet the night before?

Comment by diannep on July 13, 2013 at 8:45am

Good Morning!

When you see someone post in the same division as your SR is in, feel free to "friend request" that person and trade some private emails on here to get to know each other.  To do this, just click on the person's photo or screen name on their post, then on their page, click on Add a Friend on the left side of their page.  That will send them a friend request (you will be given the option to include a personal message with this request but don't have to).  Once the person accepts your friend request, you will see their photo under FRIENDS on the left side of your own personal page.  Just click on it and Send a Message to to that person!  It is possible that when the person accepts your friend request, they will message you first.

scottsmom: if you have your sons recruiters phone # you can call or text them, they should know the PIR date. I'm pretty sure your sons date is 8/30. I thought I saw other posts who's child got to GL on 7/2.

Comment by scottsmom on July 13, 2013 at 2:21am
My son arrived in GL on 07/02/13. I have been out of town all week so I don't know if my letter has arrived or not. I have seen a coup,e of posts whose SRs arrived at GL on the same date so I am very anxious to know if I should or shouldn't assume my sons PIR would be 08/30/13. It's just killing me to think that my letter may be there and I'm not. I still have 4 days to go before I will k ow.
