Got 5 letters on Wednesday and then another solo letter today that he mailed on Tuesday.  He said he was hoping to mail another one on Thursday!  Wonder if they now have Tuesday/Thursday writing privileges???  Seems a little too early for that though.  Oh well...I'll take it-lol!!
I would drive the hour home-lol.  I was in class an hour away from home on Wednesday and my dad had an appointment in the same town and I had him bring my letters to me on campus!!  I couldn't wait until I got home-lol.  I love that they're going to have Tues/Thurs privileges now!  The letters are what I look forward to most all week!!  As far as activities in Chicago, the Navy Pier is always a popular place to go...I've been and it's so nice, but it can get crowded.  There's Six Flags Great America, a few different museums (The Field Museum is my favorite).  There's the Shedd Aquarium, too...I've never been there, but I've heard great things about it, and the Sears Tower.  There's a ton of stuff to do...definitely not enough time to do it all.  Luckily, PIR being in September, the weather should be fairly nice for anything you want to do....but it being on Labor Day weekend means that everything should be very crowded.

You're very welcome!  I know, this summer has flown by so quick and I'm sooo grateful for that!!  Hopefully these next 3 and a half weeks go by just as fast!  I think me being so busy with school definitely helped pass the time, but I officially graduated today!!!  Thank goodness!!  He always jokes and says that if the Navy doesn't work out he can just be a stay at home daddy-lol!  But I start my full-time, big-girl job on Monday, so no break for this girl!-lol.  I hope your SR gets to call you soon!  It was a definite shocker when I got the phone call.  It was so great to hear his voice and you definitely deserve it!  It boosts your spirits up so much!  I know I'm very lucky to be getting so many letters.  I was worried before he left because he's not much of a letter writer...but he definitely hasn't let me down!  He's actually surprised me!  Just think...here in a couple weeks (roughly 2 and a half, God willing) we'll be getting our "I'm a Sailor" calls!!  I can't believe it's almost over!

Congratulations on your graduation!!!  and good luck with your job Monday.  The next couple of weekends are busy for me so that will make this month go by fast!!  Next weekend I have a golf tournament and the following weekend 8/20 is my birthday - Oh I am wishing he calls on my birthday!  That would make it so special!! :)

I can't wait to get the "I'm a Sailor" too!!

I work in healthcare, in radiology.  I'm registered to take xrays, and I've been in the ultrasound program at SIU-Carbondale for the past year, and I'll soon be registered in that as well :).  Just got my Bachelor's in Science.  I'm debating on whether or not to go back for my Masters in some sort of hospital management...but I think I'm just going to relax and make some money for a while...instead of constantly spending it-lol!  I am sure I will be stalking the fb page every chance I get...possibly even have them block my schedule on Tuesdays around 10, hahaha!!!  My boyfriend will be going to Goose Greek, SC for nuke.  He also said that he should have all day Friday as well, but he made sure to say that he won't know for sure for a couple weeks...and even then it can change.

25 days!!! We were on vacation weds when our latest letters came. I made my mother go get the mail from my house and read every one of his letters to me over the phone! lol  Does anyone know the dates of the two graduations prior to ours, that they will be participating in? I will be stalking RTC fb, looking for my baby!!
That sounds about right to me!  I'll be stalking right along there with ya!! :)
That is what my SR says too!!  I am with you Ash - I will be stalking FB!!  Hey we are staying in the Courtyard Marriott Lincolnshire - how far is that from you?   I don't think I will be there in time for the meet and greet but so far I have been really only speaking (or typing) to you ladies here!!
I'm not sure how far away that is from me...right now I'm supposed to stay at the Residence Inn in Waukegan with my boyfriend's family.  But I have my own reservations at the Navy Lodge, and I may end up staying there instead with my boyfriend's brother, his wife and their kids.  Here's the thing-lol...big mess I'm in the middle of...my boyfriend's mother and her fiance, his gma, gpa, brother, sister-in-law and their 3 kids are all planning on going.  My boyfriend's mom has 2 suites reserved.  She wants me to room with her and her fiance, and the others to room together.  She wants she and her fiance to get one bedroom, and gma and gpa to get the other bedroom and the rest of us sleep on the pull out couches.  Here's the problem, the sister-in-law is breast feeding and she does not want to be in the living room breast feeding with the gma and gpa in the other room able to walk out without notice.  I think that even without breastfeeding, rooming with your grandparents-in-law would be an uncomfortable situation...but that's just me.  His mom knows that she would be more comfortable in the other bedroom, able to breast feed in private, with me sleeping on the pull out couch.  (We've become very good friends over the past 5 and a half years)  But his mom refuses to budge, and now they're thinking about not coming at all, leaving me alone to hang out with his mom and grandparents-lol.  Like I said before, my boyfriend hasn't met his new baby niece yet, and he's very close with his brother, so I know it would upset him so much if they were to back out.  So, instead, I may move my reservation up to Wednesday (it wasn't supposed to start until Friday, when his mom's reservation ended, because she doesn't care about staying the whole weekend, even if he does get liberty all weekend, because it would upset her fiance to be away from home that long...don't get me started on that one...) and we all just stay at the Navy Lodge while the rest of them stay at the Residence Inn.  To me...I could care less where I'm sleeping or who I'm rooming with as long as I get to spend time with him.  It's just a lot of drama going on right now-lol.  Sorry for the novel, by the way, hahaha!!
OH...and I won't be there until around 10 Wednesday night...depending on when I can get off of work...so, no meet and greet for me either!
Wow what a surprise we received yesterday!!  A LETTER!!  Our SR said the RDC's gave them writing time on Tuesday 8/2.  He sounded really good.  He said they marched in 100 degree weather and 100% humidity for 1 1/2 miles.  He also mentioned in his letter that we might see him in pictures that is posted on FB 8/2 - we looked at them and we think we spotted him, but if you can look to see if you see your SR that would be great - My SR is wearing those goofy glasses so it is hard to really see if that is him or not!!  LOL 22 more days!!
I think I spotted my SR in that picture!!  The very first one in that album??  I'm pretty sure he's the one in the middle.  Just to the left of the SR carrying the white flag...I sent a picture to a couple different people for confirmation...to make sure it isn't just wishful thinking-lol!!
