Is there other parents here that have a child in SHIP 11 / DIV 281.  My first time on the discussion forum.  I was curious if anyone else is flying into Ohare?  If so, what is the best transportation to use to get to Great Lakes Navy Recruit Station?  I wanted to use the public transportation, but I am confused about which line to take/transfer to get there.

My son is on Ship11 Division 281..Hooyah!!

We are flying into OHare..staying at Red Carpet Inn by base.. We are using Airport Express number 888-284-3826 $35.00 per person. Depending what Hotel you are staying at they may have given you a code to give them when calling which will give you a little bit of discount..but it cost us 126.00 for four people- that is round trip. Yeeks. But base is in N.Chicago a ways from airport..and they are all about the same according to the gentleman I talked to. If you call they will ask what airline number, your arrival time and departure time, name, credit card. Pickup is not far from baggage area..then you call them to pick you up..they run every 15 minutes..They will give a confirmation number for arrival, and a confirmation number for departure..Hope that helps. Hope to meet you at Meet N Greet - Ramada Inn -- Hats off to Divison 281!!

Hi Everyone~ I am getting so excited that the PIR is coming so quickly. My family and I will be flying out of Logan airport on August 31. Can't wait to see my SR!!! I am even dreaming about it. It brings tears to my eyes just writing about it. We are flying into OHare, staying at America's Best Inn and decided to rent a car from the airport so that we have transportation the whole time we are there. We still may take advantage of the transportation provided to the graduation. Can anyone tell me if we have to sign up for the Meet N Greet or do we just show up? Thanks! So looking forward to meeting everyone.

Navy Mom... If you are flying out of Logan..do you live in Ma.? My husband grew up in Andover and I lived in Medfield. We now live in Michigan and tell people we went to the REAL U of M.... University of Massacusetts,
No, we live in CT about an hour and a half away from Logan. We are flying out of that airport because for some reason, the cost of flights are more reasonable. But we are true New Englanders through and through. We have lived her our entire lives.
I am also getting excited about seeing my daughter.  Where can I find the information on the Meet N Greet?  I guess I am out of the loop on the Meet N Greet.  Please help...

Thanks for the information.  We are staying t the Comfort Inn near the base.  I will be flying into Ohare on August 31, 2011, but I will have to leave September 1, 2011.  I am sad that I have to rush back, but I have something very important that I have to return for September 2.  So, I am concerned about traffic and I wish I had some idea how long it will actually take riding/driving back to Ohare.  Are you going to use a cab to get around while you are staying at the hotel?  Also, I didn't know there was a Meet N Greet, where can I get more information for that?

Thanks Again!

Hope you are all on the phone with your new sailor.......so pleased that we got the call and I was able to speak to him. He sounded tired, but they have been up for a long time.
