For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by diannep on August 28, 2015 at 2:23pm: The failed test I'm referring to below is the PFA (fitness test).

Comment by diannep on August 28, 2015 at 2:20pm: Lae: A SR cannot come home after a failed test...unless he/she is ultimately discharged. If they do not pass their failed test by their PIR date, therefore not graduating, they stay in FIT and get about 10-12 more chances to pass. When they do, they do BattleStations, maybe have a short Liberty time, and head to A School...no graduation once they miss their own. If they do not pass the test within the allotted number of chances, they are discharged.

Comment by diannep on August 28, 2015 at 2:16pm: Lae: He still has more chances to pass so don't cancel PIR plans. He will get to try again on Mon and if needed, Wed as well. If he passes on Mon, he will go with the next divisions doing BattleStations and call you once a sailor. If he doesn't pass until Wed, he will do BattleStations Thurs night before PIR, with the next PIR group, and be at graduation. Too tired to march in that case, after being up all night...so in uniform in the balcony with the other sailors who also did BattleStations the night before. RTC asks that you DO NOT go to PIR unless you get another call from your SR saying that he/she is now a sailor. However, if you decide to go....just in case....there is always a chance he became a sailor on Fri morning (PIR day)....in that case, you would of course be allowed into graduation. If not, you will not be and will not be allowed to see your SR. So prayers that he gets this done on Monday, does BattleStations and calls you on Tues of Wed! It gets complicated after that!

Comment by Flora on August 28, 2015 at 12:19pm: Hello everyone. My son DIV 294. Received his last letter yesterday, because he says at the very last paragraph " 'til graduation". And the last phone call I received was 8/20, 2 days after his 18th bday.
