Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Ship 13 Division 277/278
Here is the information I was able to pull up on the NavyforMons site re graduation photos and other pertinent things. Hope it helps. Thanks Kimber Dunn for asking the question...it will help others. BTW, my addressing div 277/278 is not dismissal or negating any other ships/divisions...we are a mini fam but this will benefit all loved ones of all SRs regardless of PIR date. Just remember that prices can change depending on when this link was posted (I believe end of last year, 2013).

Why am I hearing of so many SR being sent home? Is this a normal amount that do not complete with each PIR group? It makes me a bit nervous hearing so many are still homesick and that some want to quit and many are being sent home? I'm a bit confused as to why? Maybe it's normal, this is the first time I have a SR.

Angi: We are not allowed to post last names of the SRs on this site. If you want, you can use the last name initial and hometown if you know it. Then please delete the last names by clicking on the "x" in your post box. Thanks! Glad he is making friends!
Also, on your SR's struggling, and feeling badly, hopefully it will get better for him. I'm sure the phone call helped him alot!
Tina: You are doing the right thing by writing lots of letters to support and encourage your SR! That means the world to them. Just remind him that A School is nothing like Bootcamp (much better with communication established again with friends/family)and that he will get through this. They need lots of encouragement!

Just talked to my SR!! He's sick, homesick, and really struggling.. my heart is breaking.. but I think by the end of the call I had him feeling a little better.. I hope.

Trying to keep a positive attitude. Trying to keep our SR positive as well. He is really home sick. Trying to give him support and love over the phone to keep fighting. He is doing good on his test and has passed all of them with high scores. He is really missing family and friends. We have been sending letters to let him know he is in our thoughts. We also sent him a prepaid phones card in his letter so he has money to call on when he is able. Feeling help less.
