~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Yes I think the calls coming home and the timing of these divisions are getting into the full swing of it. These next two weeks are pretty rough from what I have read. Probably one of the reasons they have them call home. They get a quick break, and support on the other side of the phone line. Which I am sure at this point in time, they are in great need of! We never even got to hear from our son yet! Until this morning and as I understand it, along the way they will get a chance for one or two calls.....then nothing on the phone really, until right before their PIR. I was happy to hear his division seems good, and he is holding his head above water! He told my husband he thought it was much harder than he expected. When leaving he felt prepared and that he had a pretty good idea of things (just by reading and you tube haha - also what his recruiters shared) but I think the actual experience and going through it -- changes the perspective. Someone I know from the military told me "knowing what to expect for boot camp is one thing, but going through it...quite different" I hope everyone gets calls!!!! That their SR's are doing well and hanging in there!
I got the call at 5a Alaska time! Didn't care tho! We got to talk for 27 minutes.. I timed it..haha. He said it was hard but there were bright spots. The food is good, his bed (rack) is good.. uniform is a little short in the arms but everyone said they are rolled up anyway.. haha. He misses his sister terribly.. go imagine that! :0 He said the mail wouldn't get to him for 2 weeks from us... does anyone know how the mail works? Glad everyone is getting calls! No matter how long/short they are.. it's nice to hear their voice!
JTD'S Mom, my son is in the same division. My call was about 3 minutes long. I think my son is having a hard time of it. What he expected and what is actually happening I think is taking him by surprise. I wish I was able to talk to him longer, hopefully he will be able to call again. I am glad that your son is doing alright and that you were able to talk.
We JUST heard from our son! (we never got the initial "Im here call) he is from SHIP 12 DIV 275 said they were given about 20 minutes to call. It was so good to hear his voice. Said the food wasn't too bad, he is sleeping, his uniform and boots fit. Getting along with everyone. The physical training isn't a problem right now for him but the mental training is hard. He sounded a little sad, with some questions of his choice to enlist. But is staying the course and toughing it out as best he can. It was good and bad to hear. GREAT to hear he is ok, bad to to hear he sounded kinda down, and under pressure, maybe culture shock and homesick. But he is a very good kid, and he is staying the course. We had a good conversation and he asked to talk with his brothers and sisters. (they are very young) he's close with them and misses them alot I am sure. He said he is getting along with everyone and his division seems good. It was hard to hear the element of sadness in his voice. But he is hanging in there and believes he can make it!
just received my FIRST phone call from my fiancé, he called me at 8am pst! ! it was so overwhelming to hear his voice again! we literally cried the first two minutes of being on the phone but he is in good spirits and is actually loving bootcamp! he does miss everyone back home. his DIV 277 is kicking butt he says! looks ilke everyone is getting calls as well! keep your phones close! the calls are definitely coming in!
Received Form letter yesterday - Ship 2 Div 943 Excited to think he may be able to call this weekend!
