N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Hi SusanB. Our sons are in the same group as well.  I too can't wait for that phone call, just to hear his voice and tell him I love him. This is a great site though, very encouraging and supportive with so much information.  Did you book your hotel yet? We are staying at the Navy Lodge.

SusanB:  Try to go on No News is Good News, a fact at Bootcamp---you will be notified if your SR is delayed in training resulting in a setback.  I know that doesn't help when you just want to hear your SR's voice, but assume he is staying strong and working hard!  The first part of Bootcamp is pretty tough emotionally....lots of work, lots of yelling, the tearing down period.  With so many SRs from all parts of the country (and beyond), different ages, life experiences, etc....it is up to the RDCs to get all on the same page to work as a team.  Not an easy feat!  But they get it done.  So, don't be surprised if the first phone call and the first letters are a bit discouraging from some of the SRs.  Just keep encouraging them and reminding them that it gets better!  By about Training Week 4 (Bootcamp Week 5 or so), they become much more positive!

Good Morning All!

Wish I would get that phone call.. even if it was for a minute.. just to let me know that  he was okay and staying strong!

Mona:  No, the division numbers other than 800 and 900 do not have any particular meaning.  Of course, 800 is Spec Ops and 900 is the performing division.

Kristi:  You have 2 "new friends" who posted right above you!  You can click on their screen names or picture and friend request them.  Then you all can trade some emails with more personal info about your SRs who are training together!
