~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

My boyfriend has been in boot camp for 2 weeks from today. Last Saturday i received a call from him. I had no idea that i'd be hearing from him so soon! Today i received my first letter from him and it was so good to hear from him again! 2 weeks flew by, which gives me a lot of hope that this experience isn't going to be the death of me, like i pre-determined the day before he left hahah. Recently i was informed that His mom had him add me to the list for PIR, which was some of the greatest news i have gotten! Knowing i get to see him in 44 days from now, rather than 6 months from now is what keeps me going :) i feel so blessed to have his family as my support system, because i know they miss him just as much as i do and can relate! His mom was actually the reason i joined this website, and i am so thankful for her awesome advice.

I know he's not in a bad division..LOL and it does take time to work together as a group so I'm not upset.  I sent a letter encouraging him to step back and reassess the situation and not get so frustrated.  Hubby has been keeping him up to speed on his favorite TV shows and WWE shows as he asked for him to do that.

So far I have spoken to my daughter three times, including the "I'm here" phone call since she arrived on 7/9. She is in Ship 12 Div 276 and did say that Ship 12 Div 275 and 276 are an integrated co-ed division, and that makes her happy. They got to call this past weekend and I had an amazing 40 minute "security clearance info needed" phone call with her Monday. She did say her ship did not get to mail anything until this past Sunday. I'm excited for her PIR and can't wait to see her again. She is my oldest, just graduated a month ago and it's hard not having her around all the time.

I agree with what staceybea said below.  So true!  They get it together by the end of Bootcamp....it is all part of the process.

Pardon the typo.

Yes my phone call was the same with my son. His mind, emotions, and will is being tested but he's not defeated. He did his research and prepared himself as much as one could before boot camp. I'm sure it's a process that I may not comprehend as a civilian, but I trust that his faith is strong and is is relying on the foundation he was raised on more then ever before. I find comfort in knowing that he it's for a greater good. Glad to be apart of this forum, ..and communicate with family with shared experiences. Warm hugs to everyone! God bless all.

@Bethany: Every division is reprimanded and loses or gains priveleges based on their performance so he is definately not in a "bad" division! This is probably their first experience as being a LARGE team with 88 recruits all having to work towards a common goal and succeed. It is a great opportunity for these young men to feel the ups and downs of working as a team and will only make them stronger!!

Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since my boy left. Things have happened quicker than expected. He left on 7/9, received his box on 7/15, letter on 7/16, first phone call 7/19 and first letter 7/22. He is the RPCO for Ship 13, DIV 277 and he sounds really positive and doing well. He did say that positon is very stressful and a lot riding on his shoulders and that he is constantly reminded that "everyone is recplaceable". He is struggling to find a way to project his voice without stressing his vocal cords and that the swimming test was this past Monday and PT was yesterday. He needed to pass both to keep his position. Very proud and so happy to hear that he is remaining so positive!!

I agree with Lala Ribbon Queen 100%. I'm sure hearing your voice was a huge comfort to him. I know he's gonna do great!
