Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 339 and 340

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

My son Daniel is in the same division.

Welcome fairhopedaisy!  I'm looking forward to meeting you and the other families from Div 339/340! 14 more days!

Yes i can hardly wait! We only received two letters and 2 phone calls. I cant wait to hug him! I am so proud that he made this choice! Most of my family has been in the Navy or retired from the Navy. Looking forward to meeting other families too. We have been counting down the days.

What is your son's rate?  Mine will be an IT -- heading to A School in Pensacola, FL.  We are a Navy family as well.  Husband is retired Navy -- and our oldest joined 4 years ago. :)

I do not know. He is suppose to head to Pensacola also. He is going for Aviation Support Technician. Most of my family is retired from or was in the Navy. We are all originally from Fairhope Alabama. It is near Pensacola.

Me too! I am getting very excited! Looking forward to meeting new families!

Wasn't sure what a PUSH division was -- so looked up the definition in case anyone else is interested.  Looks like our SRs will be some of the last to go through battle stations.  Hopefully they all learn to work together as a team quickly and realize how lucky they are to have one less week of training than most of the other divisions!

Woot Woot!!

Push Division: a division in which some recruits who arrive in one week are held in P-days until more recruits who arrive in the next week finish P-days to fill the division. The recruits arriving the second week are pushed forward a week and are at the RTC 7 1/2 weeks rather than the typical 8 1/2 weeks that others in the division are or that others who arrived on the same day will be. The Push Divisions are also usually the last divisions in the TG and will be among the last to go through BST, so they will make the “I’m a Sailor!” call only a day or two before PIR, which means there is less opportunity to redo something (like a failed run, which can only be run every other day), so the RDCs also push this group to be ready to be US Navy Sailors on time and the first time. The actual training time for all divisions in 6 weeks so they have plenty of time to learn everything they need to learn to have PIR on time

Thanks Donna for the info.  Interesting!

My daughter called!!!! Ship 11 Div 340. She sounds great!! They are on 1-5.
Hi everyone! My son called today & sounded very happy with everything! He loves to sing (All State vocalist) & was picked to sing cadence, which he was really pleased about! He failed the float test, but didn't seem too worried about it at this point - he said that he would be getting help with that. He is not the strongest swimmer, so I was most relieved that he passed the rest!
What a RELIEF to chat & get a feel about his new life!

Oh ugh!  My boy just had a filling, so he did OK with that!   I am sure that your SR will be fine - it is to their benefit to keep them healthy, it wastes time and money to have our SR sick - I learned that as an Army wife!  You only hear the bad stories, of course, but on the whole they take pretty darned good care of our guys. I was chuckling because my SR was full of talk about how he had chatted with the dental officer about OCS - maybe he should concentrate on getting through boot before he starts having such glamorous ideas!!!!!!!!!  I do know that he felt that he was adapting pretty well, but that a lot weren't.  He said that he had personally been in trouble twice, but neither was a big deal and he was laughing about it - he had fallen asleep filling out paperwork during the first 48 hours stint and then was carrying a book the wrong way.  I will have to ask him about teamwork next time he calls - I think that I will need to make a list because of course I forgot everything that I wanted to ask him when he called!!!!  We should pool ideas and share the answers :)

Busmom129 My daughter said the same thing about team work and that some don't like to listen. I think that they will do better after this week. She also had to have 2 wisdom teeth cut out.
