Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 339 and 340

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

I should say that he wasn't laughing about it because it was a joke, rather showing that he understood that it wasn't the end of the world, but a part of the learning experience :). He is taking things seriously!!! When I re-read my comment I thought that it might be read the wrong way.....and I wouldn't want that!
My husband had a chance to speak with our SR on Saturday as well. He sounded tired and of course he is sick like most others in the division. They are an integrated division, meaning it is comprised of 44 males and 44 females. He indicated they have only been getting about 4 hours sleep per night. He also confirmed that today Monday, July 30th is 1-5 and tomorrow Tuesday, July 31st will be 2-1. Looking forward to the next call so I can visit with him. Have a great week everyone!
Yes, my SR was full of cold - when I asked him about it he said that someone had arrived sick, and one-by-one they were all catching it! My husband said that in the Army they called it TDY flu, because whenever they had temporary duty 'trips' and stayed in barracks, someone always brought the gift of sickness!!!! I wonder if they use the same name in the Navy. It is like pre-school all over again, but this time they can't pass it to us!!!

Thanks Donna!  Another new term to learn :)

Has anyone made hotel arrangements yet?  I am looking into something near Sarge's Meet and Greet.  Is anyone else planning to attend a Meet and Greet?  I'm looking forward to meeting some of the other families.  6 more Friday's until PIR!!!

I have not - I am trying to figure out how to make things work, and really want to do the Meet & Greet. One of my biggest issues is that I am a full-time student ( very non-traditional), and don't start back at school until the week prior. I need to touch base with my professors to make sure that there are no glitches with my missing classes - obviously I AM missing them, but it is a 5- hour drive, and I have classes from 9am through 9pm on a Thursday.....so, assuming hubby takes at least a half day, how many do I miss?!?!?!!!!!
Wow... Bridget...that is a loooong day of classes! Congratulations to you for going back to school. What is your major? I went back to school as a non traditional student as well...and while it was challenging attending while working full time and raising a family...it was also very rewarding when I finished! I'm sure your professors will be accommodating. PIR will be worth it! :)
Yes! But two classes were ONLY available once a week, on a Thursday afternoon & evening - grrrrr! Although the 6-9pm class is only 1/2 the semester, so could be worse! I am getting my teaching degree (elementary & middle double major, literacy minor, endorsed literacy, reading, social studies, and science). After many years of saying it was too late to 'go back', and how could we afford it, I finally took the plunge. I tried working too for a year, and said, 'this is crazy!!!!!', so we decided to bite the financial bullet and just have me concentrate on school. Summer is great :). I am going to PIR, no ifs, ands or buts, I just have to decide whether I miss the whole day or just afternoon & evening. I can't wait!

We will be going to sarges meet and greet. My name is Karen. We will be staying at the Navy Lodge.

Yeah!!!! Had a couple of minutes to talk with my SR this morning. He needed info for some paperwork he is completing. He sounded very tired and is still sick with the Ricky Crud :). I'm sure being sick is bringing him down because he usually never gets sick. He didn't realize they were a push division....so hopefully they all come together as a team. He said they're getting ready for an inspection...hope they all do well.
I bet they will! And if they don't, well......they will soon learn, won't they?!?!?!!!! Thinking of our SRs today as always :)
My SR is ship 11 div 339. I got my first "real" letter today! I am so excited!!!
