Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Before my SR left to get on the plane, I took his little Bible and highlighted some key verses for him that I felt would be uplifting and remind him of where his true strength comes from. He wrote home and said he was so glad that I did that. Made me smile and brought happy tears! :)

Comment by Shelley on August 14, 2015 at 12:47pm: I wrote a letter to my son and put it in his Bible. In it I told him what I would be praying for every day...

Safety and Health; Mental Strength, Physical Strength, for the powers to be to see his desire, his drive and his leadership and to allow him to excel, and more than anything I pray for him to feel the love from home!!!

Now he know exactly what I'm praying for him every day..

Probably many of the same things you are praying for as well. Prayer works! If you like, you are welcome to PM me and we can connect on FB as well. We will all see each other at PIR...which is closer each and every day! Yay!

Comment by poppersmom on August 14, 2015 at 12:18pm: Yes jewelz it's a blessing that they know where their strength comes from it makes happy because I know he had a ruff start I cried & prayed everyday because it was hard for him! So to know he has made such good friends it brings me peace I found the other moms of the SR on fb its a helpful site full of moms girlfriends & wives im looking for JP now my SR initials are JG just in case :)

Comment by Jewelz on August 14, 2015 at 12:02pm: Poppersmom, our SR also attends church on Sunday and has mentioned in every letter how much he enjoys the services. He says that they help him feel ready for the upcoming week. He is in Div 299 and I believe they share living quarters. :)

Comment by diannep on August 14, 2015 at 11:51am: Lea: That is how Bootcamp goes.....emotionally up and down for them...and that is reflected in their letters/calls. Just know that if you receive another "down" letter/phone call, that by the time you received it, she was probably doing much better!

By the way I did get letter yesterday and I was so relieved to hear her spirits way up compared to the first set of letters...her sadness then was torture....oh how I needed to hear that she was doing much better now! I'm feeling thankful. She said she has made 10 new friends as well
