Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 289 and 290

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Hey! My name is Jade and my boyfriend is ship 12 div 290 (Triton) anyone else's loved ones on the same ship, add me!
My name is Tina, My son Dakoda is 12/290, I have yet to get a phone call or a letter but I am positive it will happen soon. I just wanted to say hello to everyone. Have a great Friday!

Hi i'm Ashley, my fiance Travis is in ship 12 div 289... At least that's what the recruiter told me. I haven't gotten a form letter, letter or call from him.

Hi Ashley,
your fiancé' Travis is in the brother div of my son Dakoda, I haven't heard anything from him yet but stay positive. You will hear something soon.
Hi Jade,
Your BF and my Son Dakoda are on both on 12/290. How are you holding up? have you heard from him yet? I still have not received a phone call or a letter. But I'm hopeful we will soon.
Hi Tina! I'm doing a lot better than in the beginning. You just have to think about the positive outcome! I just received my first letter(s) from him yesterday. It was very emotional for me. The letters were dated July 19th and July 23rd. He mentioned that they're only allowed to write at a certain time. I have yet to receive a phone call though. The next time I write him I'll ask if he knows your son! My bf is a Machinist Mate (MM), what is yours? Stay strong, I'm sure you'll hear from him soon.

Hi guys, my son's name is Austin and he's in Div 289.  I got a letter from him yesterday and he seems to be doing really good.  No phone call yet, but I didn't expect that until next week at the earliest.  He did say he picked his job, and if he passes the test his will be the Recruit Mail Petty Officer.

@ SumnerRain
That is great information! I look forward to that first phone call. I had heard the 3rd week is usually when they will start calling. I am so looking forward to getting a letter. I worry because Dakoda isn't big on letter writing.
Have a great evening

Austin isn't either.  From what I can tell he wrote a little bit when he could.  He started the letter at P3 and ended a few days ago.  His dad told him letter writing would end up being his lifeline, and it would help make his time there easier.  His dad wasn't much of a letter writer either, but when he was in basic we wrote daily.  My husband gave our son all sorts of Boot Camp survival tips.  Not much has changed in 16 years, and not much is different from Army & Navy.  Dakoda is probably just writing a little until he has a full letter, I'm sure you will get one soon.

I got the form letter AND a letter from my fiance!!! He says he's got back pain and shoulder pain in his left shoulder. I kind of thought about it and it seems like that pain is stemming from the horrible mattresses they have at RTC. I hope he feels better soon. He also says he misses me and that he contemplated leaving... But he said that is behind him now. Also, he said that they got NO TIME to write and they only were able to write because they got special permission from one of the RDC's to write after taps. I'm pretty sure that they were writing in the dark too, because his handwriting was atrocious. lol but don't worry, you should be getting letters soon. He also said that the calls are coming soon. He doesn't know when though.

I got a phone cal!!!!!!

So bummed I didn't get a phone call today :( I'm hoping I get one soon...or a letter. Did any of your SRs say how they were doing? Mine sent me a letter the other day and was saying that he missed me so much he even found a loop hole to get out of his contract. He said he got past that, but he really needs communication from me. He also said that many people from his division are getting medically discharged. That worries me a lot. I'm kind of a nervous wreck right now. I mean, I know he's a strong man, he got through hell week at the Citadel for goodness sake. But i'm still worried about him. I hate how I can't pick his brain and see how he's feeling now.
