Has anyone received an actual letter from their sailor yet?? I'm very anxious to hear from him. I'm also worried. He expressed sadness on his form letter home with his PIR information and I've been a wreck since. I've read that the first couple weeks are hardest for them. Is that true?? Is there a limit to the amount of letters I can send him? I heard that they get singled out if they're getting too much mail and I don't want to make anything harder for him. Thanks!!!
thats true, we did.. thanks for the encouragement...
OK, home from work. Have read the letters (about 4 times so far!!). I'm high, floating on air, my baby still needs me. One was the form letter with his address and all. The other was a personal one, 5 pages!!. All this from a kid who rarely says more than a few words to me. AND he said he loves us and misses us and he really does want us to come to PIR. He said he wished we would write, but I already knew from being on here that these things lag each other, so hopefully he will have them soon (and grandma's writing too, so he should be getting a huge batch!).
A couple of things he asked I never would have thought about. He said they heard about the shooting in Colorado from their swim instructor and otherwise don't have a clue what is going on in the "outside world" so could we send him mundane news. He also wanted me to check about a cell phone plan that he can call from a ship. So do any of you veterans know what it takes to call from a ship?? I'll see if I can hunt down an answer later, but I gotta eat dinner now.
For everyone who has not heard, I will say an extra prayer tonight for you. I know what its like and I wish everybody could feel the way I feel now!
I posted this on a prior page but thought it might be helpful for those reading currently who are wondering about their letters, so I'm re posting it here.
I was told that they can only turn in letters that they've written on Sunday to be mailed Monday. The day of the week that you receive letters (for the most part) will be the same every week. So if yesterday was your lucky day then hopefully every Thursday you'll get mail from him. If he manages to write more than once a week I believe they all get mailed out on Monday.
Our first letter was hard but it was so good to hear from him. I'm writing every day...I also heard that they can get letters every evening even though they can only mail theirs once a week.
Sitting on my front porch stalking the mailman as he does the the other side of my street. Hope today is the day to receive my first letter!!!
LOL No letter today but you can bet I will be out there again on Monday hiding behind that planter!
No letter for me today either. Tried not to get my hopes up, but I was still very disappointed. After my little breakdown I figured I better get on with my day....so I tackled the laundry then sat by the pool for awhile. I really hope he gets our letters that we have sent tomorrow, if he hasn't yet. Had a dream about him last night & it was so real.....felt like I actually got to see him. Made me feel good, but was bittersweet too....just made me more anxious for a letter.
