OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

PIR 9/14/12 DIV 289-290

It is a closed group BUT they normally add you fast!

Thanks Christiana

My son is in Div 290.  We are from South Carolina and Flying up Wed night-- late for PIR.  We are staying at the Residence Inn.

I haven't had the time to get on here as much as I like and would love to get to know y'all better- Are most doing Sarge's Meet and Greet?  I look forward to meeting y'all and if you have time look up the link for the facebook group.  It has been hard with school starting back to keep up with both.

My son is div 289 and yes we plan on going to Sarge's meet and greet provided all goes well at the airport, our flight arrives Thursday at around 4:30 so we will be a little late. And I understand about trying to juggle things!! It makes life fun..or something like that haha.

I'm sending you an email with a bunch of info! In the meantime, scroll thru all of the discussion boards, especially the older ones. You'll find a lot of great info! Will you be attending graduation?

I'll send the email to the address you gave me!

We live in Milwaukee, WI...only about an hour away.  Not sure if we'll get to a m&g, but we will definitely be at PIR.  Only 16 days now!!!!

My SR is SHIP 14/DIV 290.  I am looking forward to meeting other families at PIR.  I am getting sooo excited!

Ladies, In case you missed the post. We have dates for Battle Stations. If you have not received this info from Diannep for our divisions (289, 290) please private message me and I will share it with you. We can not post that information in the group or discussion area for security reasons!

On another note, sorely lacking in communication lately with my SR. Missing her so much right now!

We had one phone call, almost 3 weeks ago. I've received 4 letters (2 came on one day the others on other days) the first set of letters were great! Well, all of them are great, but the latest ones have been very short. She writes that they're extremely tired and a lot of people opt to go to bed rather than stay up writing. It's also possible that your son was standing watch when phone calls were made. If so, then unfortunately he wouldn't be able to make one. I don't know if you saw my post about them being able to buy computer time after Battle Stations? I've had everyone posting notes on my daughter's Face Book page so if that happens she'll be able to see them.

Do me a favor Vbriggs, for OPSEC (security) would you mind deleting and reposting your last comment and remove your sons name? Best way, for their safety, your's, and the sites, is to refer to your son as your "SR" (Seaman Recruit)- at least until after Battle Stations then we can call them sailors!! (Don't worry, I got your message and will pass on to MY SR LOL)

No problem!! We all did it when we first started on here! Lots of info to take in! I went ahead and deleted your post with your personal email on it. Probably would be best if you only sent that out via personal messages on someones "home page" (Kind of like Face Book, you can send and receive private messages on here as well as post public stuff. You can share info like names and other contact stuff in one of those private messages)
