OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Please see changes to attending PIR in the PAGES column. The PAGES are located under the member icons on the right side.

Welcome to the Division Discussion for Division 818

Be very aware when posting about your SRs who are in this division. Make sure you read the OPSEC rules (everyone should).

Please do not set up additional groups for this division. Information regarding the SRs in this division must be very limited.

sjtina, cor and a couple more ladies will be joining this discussion to answer your questions about the "800" division.

Although your SR is still in BC, what they are doing may be slightly different from what the other divisions in this training group are doing. It is also recommended that you go into your "settings" (clickable link on the right side) and change your privacy setting to "private" and change everything to friends only.

Please still use the main wall to post general questions, and concerns, such as meet and greet questions etc. Specific questions regarding the 800 division should be posted here.

We “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion groups as often as we would like to, and the ladies helping out with the 800 divisions don't always get to the main wall as often as they would like.

Every single question that is asked is important
Every single concern is genuine
Every single member is important to us
We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there ladies!!!

There has been quite a bit of back and forth about whether our guys/girls in 818 can visit us at the Navy Lodge while we are there for graduation.  We have an excellent guy on our 800 division facebook page that is looking into this for us.  I'm wondering why so many moms are telling us to book at the Navy Lodge under our SRs name and not our own.  Can someone shed some light?  Sorry if this issue is repetitive, but it seems that ours in the 800 units may have slightly tighter rules ~ which is fine, I just want to follow them.  Thanks so much.

Hi Marylou what Spec Ops is your SR doing?

My SR is Rescue Swimmimg.

Navy Diver.  It's pretty tough (rescue swimming too).  I'm more worried about the next phase of training than I am about BC

Has anyone heard from there SR in div 818.  I got my form letter the 4th but no call and no letter.

Nothing from mine ~ no calls, no letters!  boo hoo!  One mom in 818 received a letter today. I'm hoping tomorrow.

Marylou,

Thanks for passing the info along.  I am hoping tomorrow too.  Maybe calls this weekend.

My SR is ND also hope we can meet at PIR.

mom1994 ~ are you on the FB pages for our PIR group or spec ops?  We can PM if so.  Not sure how to do it on this page.  Praying for a letter today!

Hi mom1994 - my son is also ND, from Texas.

Your sailors are free to come and go from the Navy Lodge. That hotel is not on base, although it is located in the family housing sub division. If you do not hold DoD identification you will need to put the reservation in your SRs name since it is a military and DoD Hotel.  Your Sailor will be your sponsor. I have never heard of the 800 division Sailors being restricted.

If you are staying at the Navy Gateway Inn and Suites, it is on the TSC base. If you do not have DoD identification you and all members of your party staying there will have to go through a background check before your reservation can be confirmed. Sailors are restricted from that hotel and will have to apply for a chit that will permit them to visit the hotel. Chits are usually granted, but they can be denied or revoked at any time, and for any reason. You will also be restricted on your movement within the base if your Sailor is not with you.

You are awesome and that makes so much more sense!  One of the rooms is in my other son's name and he's active Air Force so I'm thinking that room can stay the way it is.  Have a wonderful day!

I just called the Navy Lodge, they themselves have no care about the division. They did say if there are restrictions it would be from command not them. They still only ask for PIR date, Sailors name, and rate.

I have not called the Navy Gateway Inn and Suites to see if it is restricted.

Thank you for all of your insight regarding lodgings. ..smiles
