**UPDATE - 2020**

Due to COVID there is no public PIR. The graduations are on Thursday, and the video of the graduation is posted on RTC's FaceBook on Friday at approx 3pm. Please keep in mind that a division may need to complete additional quarantine during training which will delay their graduation.

Please note! Changes to this guide happened in October 2017. Tickets are now issued for all guests, and all guests must have a ticket to enter base. A separate parking pass is no longer needed to drive on to base for parking.

Welcome to the Division Discussion for Divisions 297 and 298

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the Main Wall of the PIR Group to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion area as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important Every single concern is genuine Every single member is important to us We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Hey y'all.  Just got a phone call from my SR. (Ship11 Div 297) I was so happy to talk to him and just hear his voice.  He said he had some dental work done (wisdom teeth removed and 2 fillings) but seemed to be recovering nicely.  He likes PT and the book learning part.  He also said IT is horrible and he hopes he never has to do it again! (the whole division just once but he said that was one time too many!) The food is okay.  Cafeteria style.  He doesn't mind standing watch and has done it twice.  He said the division is just learning the components of their firearms.  He said actually he really hates the folding. And how magic loose threads appear overnight on his uniform after he has trimmed them all off the night before.  Told him to beware the loose thread gremlins!  He's also made friends with a fellow from the state of A whose last names' first initials are Pe.  Thanks to all the moms for the kind words of encouragement and instruction. He did say  "keep writing those letters Mama.  We read them over and over."  So, write those letters, light your candles, and mark those Fridays, ladies.   It will soon be our turn.  XOXO Go Navy Mamas!

I got a call from my son today.  He sounded a little better.  Still having trouble, but as I told him, he's not supposed to like boot camp.  The book work is hard for my son, I'm so glad he got himself into shape physically before he left.

Hi. I received phone call but no letter yet. She did tell me she received mine. Mase her happy to hear from home. She sounds so good. Says she is working really hard but loving it and making lots of new friends. :). I hope you all have a terrific day. Stay Strong navy moms

This is awesome.

Hello all. I recently joined site.  I have a daughter on Ship 11 DIV298 PIR 9-19

Hi Katbrat, I also have a daughter on Ship 11 Div 298.  I have received two calls and our first letter last week. We are excited about PIR and I am trying to get us booked to go to Chicago.

Has your daughter called you and written to you?  I read some information about the phone cards that go quick, so I am planning to send my daughter another one this week.

How are you doing with her gone?  It was hard on my husband and I until we got the phone calls and letter and now feel a little better.  We are so proud of her.

Hi Lisa.  Glad to hear you have a daughter on the same ship.  I did receive 2 calls, however the 1st. call I received I missed :(, due to I was in the middle of moving.  But she left me the sweetest message.  She did get a hold of her twin sister on her cell, which was great, was so happy that they were able to talk.  I am very excited about PIR.  I have my flight and motel booked.  I have received one letter so far, which I read daily. I have been sending my daughter cards and letters every week.  It has been hard with her gone, but I know that she is in good hands and doing what she wants.  I believe that she will be very successful. Hearing her voice and seeing her handwriting always makes me feel better. I am very proud of her.  My daughter did tell me that she has become very close with a few girls. One of them she will be going to A School with.  So that is very nice.  I hope you received a call this weekend.  I did not, and neither did her twin.  So I am sitting here, hoping she is ok.  I sure she is, but there is that worry mom feeling.

I hope you had a nice weekend and have a wonderful week.

Go Navy Strong!

Just received my first letter today :-) Ship 11 DIV 298 Loves the food, has a collar device, wants more mail! Lol

Cute Kitty

Just got a surprise phone call from my son (div 297.) Said hell week went by fast. A/C was out in their ship for a couple of days. Ugh. Told me to make sure I brought boxers when we come up to Great Lakes for graduation. He can't stand the tighty whities. Ha!

Hi moms, My recruit (ship 11 div 297) called his fiancee on Sun.  She said that he sounded great!  He told her that they did some confidence and team building activities that he enjoyed. He also said that he had a couple of buddies there and that they were supporting each other.  Yay booger bear & div 297!

Has anyone gotten an I'm a sailor call?
