I also got two letters yesterday. I am glad I got the phone call first though bucause the first letter sounded a little stressed. He is great nw though. Got two days of rest from getting his wisdon teeth pulled... lucky him. Says the wrose part is the lack of sleep. He really like his division though. Making some lifetime friendships I am sure. His name is Kody. Although I think they all are called by last name. He couldn't stress enough how much he wanted us to write.

Yes keep your phones ladies.... I believe the number was an area code 847?

Hugs to yo all thanks for your support and through us all and our thoughts and prayers our "boys" who are truly men will stay strong and be graduating before we know it!!!

oh my gosh....I am sick! I was on vacation, which I actually extended from 1 week to 2 weeks. Was up in the mountains with extremely sporadic cell service. On Wednesday....my cell phone rang in my cabin from an 847 # and since I use my phone for business, just assumed it was business and didn't answer! The phone never rang in the cabin the entire 2 weeks and the one time it rings......I guess it was my son.  :(  Can you believe it???  and to make matters worse, my mailbox was full....... Do I get the "worst mother of the year award" or what??  lol

Unbelievable. I'm going to owe him big time when I see him.

I understand...I run a business and was closing a deal when the phone started ringing..so I didn't answer it...of course it was him.  He called again on my husband's phone and spoke to him for about 3 min...I feel so sad to have missed the opportunity to hear him and to encourage him...I guess we just have to write more letters!!! hugs, sarah

My son is Ship 14, Div 299  Hello everyone, My son called when we were working, but my husband got to speak to him for a few minutes :) i wish I could get on here more often, but it's nice to know other families are going through the same things.  peace and hugs

Nice to meet you Sarah - my son is in Div 300. Sorry to read you missed your son's call, Im sure you will get the next one! Hang in there!

I just felt like posting today.. I wonder if Robey was given glasses?  I think he needed them, but he never wanted to go for the check up.  I hope you all are having a good day.

If he needed glasses he will for sure get them! My son wears contacts but couldn't wear them there so he is wearing glasses.  he wrote to as that although they are not the "birth control glasses" my husband teased him they would be, he doesnt like wearing them at all and said to bring his contacts to PIR! Already have them packed! 4 weeks today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

funny, that's good to know.  He hasn't mentioned it yet.  However, he does sound so much better :)   thanks for the info.  Have a good day!

Wow, my emotions are all over the place. After being gone for 2 weeks, I was able to pick up my mail. Had 2 pieces of mail from Matt and the first one was a bit hard to read. He was frustrated with some things and I could tell tired. However, I was so happy to have those letters. He talked about lots which was wonderful.

Now 1 hour later...I'm talking on the phone with a customer when I can see another call beeping through and see that it is the 847 area code that I read about online here. I abruptly asked my customer if I could call her back, very excited that it may be Matt. When I answered, it was a "much older" man.  He began to ask about ordering a scrapbook for his son in the Military. He then started laughing and finally said, "Mom it's Matt".  Oh my gosh, I can't tell you how great that call was.  Boy do I miss him. Best part is, he sounds 100% better than his first letter.

I'm wiped out now...;-)  Wanted to share, since I know you all understand the emotions.

How great Sherril!!! I am so happy you got your call.

I am glad I talked to Kody before I received his first letters because he sounded stresses about the first week. What a relief after talking to him. Anxiously awaiting another call!

that is awesome!!!  :)

Great news, and funny too :)
