for
~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

FTLW - Thanks so much for the information; it is for after Battlestations and Recruit Heaven. Thanks for the CNIC website too.
Hello Moms, Can someone tell me more on the door hangers/posters we can do if we are staying at the Navy Lodge. I thought i saw something in a previous post, but I can't find it. Any info would be Fabulous. Thanks
Welcome! :-)
Liberty ends at 22:00 hours ( 10 PM) for TSC Great Lakes Students.
The above can change at anytime for any reason. Actually, they don't even have to give you a reason! So whatever time your Sailor tells you that's it.
PLEASE make sure you return your Sailor early. They have to walk back to their ship or I think you may be able to drive them, but it takes time what with everyone returning their sailors. ON TIME in the military, is late. If your Sailor is late for their return they will be punished.
~Liberty for those with A schools other than TSC Great Lakes, (IOW those flying out to school ), generally have to return to RTC by 8 or 9, it varies.
(Personal note : Our son was held over at RTC for a few days and so had extra days of Liberty. Return time was different each day AND he had to stand watch in the middle of his Liberty. That day we returned him for his watch and then met him in Recruit heeaven for dinner since there wasn't anytime left to leave the base.)
The "return" advice I posted above applies for RTC sailors as well, on time is late. RTC sailors will have to walk back to their ships. If you drop them off inside the base the furthest in you can go with a vehicle is the Parking Garage for PIR and on the opposite side if the base (if allowed) is the Chapel/NEX parking lot. It's still a good walk from there (add some more time if they are walking from outside RTC.)
Sailors must walk to their ships, no double timing it or running.
Please read this Discussion post. It is here on your PIR group up above in the. Discussion Forum. One of your group members who is local to Chicago posted it. Starts with, "Chicago day trips...."

Lots of tips on getting around town.
Remember that your new Sailors must stay within 50 miles of RTC on PIR weekend Liberty.
I just know that when I go into a Starbucks that is inside of another store that sometimes they don't take the chain gift card. It may be all the time, I haven't tried it in all of them :-)
Just one more thing in life that isn't simple or makes sense, but at least it is a small thing :-D
Hello and good morning to all. Any suggestions on what to do in Chicago and the parkings? I never been there. My daughter will be staying in Great Lakes for A school so we have the whole weekend to spend with her.
