Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

for
~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Navygirlsmom, If you have booked under your name the reservation can be changed to your recruits name when you arrive, but you do have to tell them.
When you check in PIR weekend you do not have to have your Sailor with you, they understand that is not possible. You will have to give them your Sailors name, and rate when checking in. At some point you will probably need to take your Sailor to the front desk to "confirm",
If you are looking at the Navy Lodge website, it is going to give you rules and regulations for all hotels. The Navy Lodge in Great Lakes is the exception because the RTC is there.
Call the hotel in Great Lakes directly, not the reservation line, to ask questions you may have, and make your reservation. Don't make that reservation online or through their 800 number.
When I called the Navy Lodge, they said it could be booked under the parents name, to just mention you're there for PIR. I also read on their website, If you use your SR's name, they have to be there as a sponsor when you check in. It makes me nervous either way.
Hotels suggested by others on here are:
Navy Lodge (book in SR's name if you do not have military ID)
Also, Courtyard, Residence Inn, Springhill Suites, Holiday Inn Express. 4-5 miles from RTC, near a large Walmart center...restaurants there, Sarge's MeetandGreet nearby. Call these hotels direct and ask for the Navy Graduation discount.
what s the facebook link?
Since I have not received my form letter does anyone have any suggestion on which hotels to stay at.
TyNavyMum: Sometimes the ships undergo maintenance resulting in a change of ships (barracks) for some divisions. This is normal. Until your SRs give you a new mailing address, continue to mail to the old one. The mail will be forwarded to your SRs.
