Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

BoogiesMom...glad to hear you are hearing it also...I have heard it from several other mom's ..I just happened to get two letters from my Sr yesterday apologizing for not being able to call for a long time --do to people not doing what they are suppose too...several hurt the group...she said she probably won't be able to call now until after battlestations *(OPSEC)...good luck to all the SRs - count down is on!!

I have a sister and brother in law retire from the marine corps--I was married to the Air Force and have a son-in-law that is an officer in the Marine Corps they are at Camp Pendelton and my sister lives in North Carolina...My Sr has wanted to be in the military since she was about 5...it's a happy time...where in North Carolina are you

Lol Yes being in the military helps. My husband is currently in the ANG in NC. Spent 9,years active as a NCO then Wendt into ANG as officer. He will be in uniform on graduation. I guess he wants his daughter to salute him. Lol.

I also am surrounded by a huge military family and married to the military...my daughter is 27 college grad and I know girls - lots of hormones....she was just frustrated she couldn't call and felt bad that we would be waiting to hear from her...I am happy with letters I told her and not be concerned with the phone calls...2 weeks to go Ladies

My sr is in a division with no females and they didn't get phone calls either. Chances are they weren't going to get them, but the RDC's just told them they lost the phone calls.

Yes they will get it together! Lol. My daughter is almost 24 and she comes from a military family. I'm sire it's very stressful for all especially for those who have never been away from home, etc. They will be fine. I have all the confidence in the world!! Have a great day ladies!

Just got 2 letters from my daughter explaining why no one could call on the holiday weekend..diannep not calling out anyone --grown adult 18 year old young women is who I am talking too..can't blame a parent...it just keeps happening with these girls since the beginning that's all I hear...with 2 weeks to go you think they would be a group by now...

...should add that I know this group is just 2 weeks away from graduating, so there is lots of stress to get final tests done, etc. That pressure alone could be causing lots of anxiety in the group and acting out! They still have time to get it together!

We hear stories like below all of the time early on in Bootcamp. Lots of problems among the SRs trying to get on 'the same team." But it works out in the end. Remember, the job of the RDCs is not only to train your SRs to be sailors, but to train them to work as a team. It will happen! Try not to point fingers since you never know when the family member of one causing issues is on this site, and that person needs as much support as all of you do!
