OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Don't try to figure out the phone calls...they are always so random!

What they are doing now in Bootcamp:

http://navyformoms.com/group/pir09192014/page/what-are-they-doing-i...

These are "training weeks" (there are 6 of them) and this PIR group should be in Training Week 2.

Cdenise:  Just click on their name or screen name in their post.  That takes you to their page.  On the left side, it says "Add a Friend."  Click on that.  That person will be sent a Friend request from you.  If they accept it, their picture will appear on your personal page under your FRIENDS section (left side also).  They also may send you an email back.

I hope they get an opportunity to call today if they didn't get through. BTW. What's on the schedule for this week, what will our SR's be doing?

My son called yesterday, I was prepared, am an activity director in a nursing home and told my residents that I have my phone with me and its on high, if it rings I'm going to excuse myself cause its probably my son. Everyone was okay with that. Then after they had lunch, I set my phone on my activity cart, wheeled a resident to her room and when I got back missed call. I was so upset with myself. He did leave a message, he said he was writing a letter that will go out Sunday and he was going to pass the phone to someone else. Very :(
