im so glad you did.

Wow!  I got "the box" on Friday and the form letter on Mon.!  He's in 316.

We didn't get shoes either, I'm not sure why.

Do they have odd size in shoes?   My son went in 2 years ago and he had to wait on his running shoes, so he had to keep his shoes for a few days until the Navy issued ones came to him.     I didn't find that out until he came home.   They are issued boots and running shoes there and my son had to wait on the running shoes for some reason.  He had bigger feet.   He's pretty tall.

They can also donate there clothes at least that is what I heard. I told my son no donations, please send them home. He did. I still have all the stuff except his phone in the box. I am not sure if I want to wash them or just peek in and see what it was that he wore that last day. He truly is missed.

My son is a 10 1/2 or an 11 sometimes so maybe it has something to do with the size.

My SR's brother is now a corpsman and was telling me that some things get tossed. They told them before they left to not wear anything they want to see again...so not sure if thats just a joke or they really do toss things? my boyfriend sent everything to his mom so i dont know what he got back.

I had to laugh when I got the box. BOTH of her pant legs were rolled up. Her sister only had one rolled up when her stuff came back. Her contact solution was in one shoe, and her cell was in the other shoe. Made me laugh.

cute!!

She was so nervous when she left. I pray everything is going good for all of our recruits. Has anyone received a letter yet? I was hoping yesterday or today, but most likely next week toward the end.

I understand completely. I got a second job to keep busy. I write her every day, but sometimes it gets to me. Then I just remember what she is doing. And I pray. It helps so much. I figure if I can't be with her God can. That helps so much. We should have a letter by the end of this week. My oldest said she thinks they wrote on the third Sunday. She also said those days were a blur to her. I do want to say, don't be alarmed at the first couple of letters home from basic. These weeks are tough with the adjustments etc. I reread some letters from my SR's sister, and those first couple were almost heartbreaking. After the first few weeks tho, you will see a difference. More confidence, more assurance on their part to you, instead of the other way around.

This is a great forum to belong to. And I am here for ya!

You are so welcome. Someone was good to me when I went through this the first time. It is great to be able to pass that on.
