My son Kyle is on Ship 13, Div 310... I received an information packet yesterday with a lot of helpful information.  Even though it barely had any of his handwriting on it, it was great to have some sort of contact with him.  He was thoughtful enough to write "Love you" with a smiley face, which so so endearing to me.  I sent two letters today and have a card already stamped and addressed to mail in the morning... Getting so excited to see him!  Already have my reservations booked at the Navy Lodge.  I have heard lots of great reviews on NFM on the hotel.

Kerry (From Indianapolis)

For anyone interested the Navy Lodge is close to the RTC and costs $65.00 per night and they do not charge for tax!   How cool is that to not have to pay tax!

Thats where I'm staying :)

Can you tell me if that is walking distance to RTC? I haven't booked flights yet or gotten reservations for lodging.

Thanks for the information!    Do you have a child or boyfriend graduating then?

My SR is Ship-13, Div-309

He will be staying in GL for A School after PIR- He is going for Operation Specialist.

We will be going to graduation and are staying at the Navy Lodge.. Booked our rooms tonight! :)

Hello all,  My Sr is in Ship 13, Div 309 glad to meet y'all.  From Texas as well.

What part of Texas are you from?  We are SE Texas, big city, not hard to figure out lol

Kerry,

That is so sweet that your son thought to drop you a note in the box/on the box.  I joked with my son to do something like that and he said "mom, we're not long lost lovers-- gees"  lol  He probably would have done it, but felt like he was being watched and didn't want to be busted for something from the get go.  He was very conscious of being noticed... he is 6'4"--not a small guy.  Just a big teddy bear though.  Love reading everyone's posts, keep it coming!

Casper

Tomorrow will be two weeks since my son left.. and I am still waiting for either a letter or a call... maybe today will be my lucky day :)

Kerry how exciting for you...big congrats!  I know someone who is going to sleep sound tonight lol  My son in ship 13 div 309.  I got a call Sunday aug 12th because he had won a compeition, but have not received a letter although he said he sent one.  So good to know the letter was all positive. My sons phone call was positive and i just saw a posting from a mom who got a letter from her son who is in ship 13 div 309 and all positive stuff too...so as Moms lets all breathe easily and sleep well this evening!  Hugs to all you Moms!

I can only imagine getting that first phone call.. it must have either taken your breath away or brought you to tears... either one, I am sure it made you feel so good just to know that he was ok.  My sons letter was very postive and knew that he had made the right decision in joining the Navy.  Hopefully, the next six weeks will fly by and we can hug them once again!  Hopefully, your letter will be delieved tomorrow!

Sending prays and support your way!
