OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Thanks again for all the helpful info. Don't know how I would get through without you! Have a great day!

Also, Amy,  the SRs have until their BattleStations day to pass their PFA before having to call you....hopefully all have passed in your division, but if not, they get another chance tomorrow....if is safe to say that if you don't get a call by BattleStations day for your division, then that is a very good thing!  Means they should be heading into BattleStations.

Comment by diannep on September 22, 2015 at 1:35pm

Some divisions will be doing BattleStations on Thurs night and the rest will go on Mon and Tues nights.  So all should have their I'm a Sailor calls by next Wed afternoon.  I can post which divisions went through the morning that they finish (remember, overnight drill).

Comment by diannep on September 22, 2015 at 1:30pm

A reminder please:  We cannot post BattleStations dates publicly, either here or on the FB groups.  So...if you disclosed the date your division is going through, please delete it!  You can post that you HAVE a date for Div ___ and ask others to private message you for it.  Thanks!

Amy:  The FB ladies are not the only ones who have contacts at RTC so don't dismiss the info on here!  :-)

I would gladly hug you back! We could all use the extra hugs and support! I am flying out the 29th because I have family I can visit but it will be nice just knowing aim near her.. It's sad for my other kids though I have 5 all together and the other 4 have to wait at the hotel because my sailor put her grandparents on the list to be there with my husband and I but she will have a big surprise when she gets back to the hotel because there are 16 of us all together! Hope you will be at the meet and greet maybe we can get that hug!
