Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Son called, Passed PFA. He said he will be in stands at PIR and be able to see us afterwards. He will transfer to A school and then he said he "May" get Liberty over the weekend.
I'll take anything.
Can't wait to see his face.

That's OK dianne, thank you. I'm still trying to be hopeful.
Comment by diannep on September 30, 2015 at 1:23pm

Ooops!  I meant "HER" below where I put "HIS".  Sorry, Jennifer!

3boyzmom:  They can only call if they passed.

Flydogmom:  Yes, I would assume so.  Unless they are checking on something medically that they found during Bootcamp and waiting for those results????

Jennifer:  Not sure they always let them call if they passed their PFA...they should this close to PIR , but sometimes don't since they are not officially sailors until after BattleStations.  If I were you, I think I would go to PIR on Friday just in case.....go early....if his name is not on the list, you could just turn around and leave.  The "gatekeepers" are used to that question since it happens in each PIR group.  Glad you are continuing your plans....and hoping that his name is THERE on Friday!  Since it is only 12:20 pm, Chicago time, right now....if he is allowed to call after passing the PFA, you still have time to get that call if he passed.  So many uncertainties, I know.....Please keep all in touch on here about your SR/almost Sailor!

Sorry Jennifer, We are still waiting to hear if my son passed PFA today too. We went ahead and started the drive that way. I thought he said he would be able to call if he passed now I am wondering if he'll call pass or fail?
Does anyone know?

Thank you, I'm still praying but I can't stop crying....and I'm not a cryer!! And I'm at work. Ugh
Comment by allgood97 on September 30, 2015 at 12:23pm

I'm sorry, Jennifer, but there is still time today for them to call. I haven't heard from my son either, so maybe they are busy with other things or on watch. Keep thinking positive. I'm praying for you and your daughter!!

Well, today was my daughters last chance to pass her running test to graduate on time. Still haven't got a call so it looks like it's not going to happen. It's too late to cancel our flights for tonight, so I guess we will just go explore chicago. I do want to say congratulations to all that are graduating and especially to division 330. She was such a part of them til almost the end. I am grateful to them all, they encouraged her all the way. Thank all of you on this thread, you all have been so helpful. I will more than likely migrate over to the FIT one since that's where she is at. Safe travels and hug your sailors tight!
