OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Marillamom- same, no call or letter from ship 3, div 333. They will almost certainly be able to send their first letters out tomorrow with it being Sunday. Whenever I hear or get something I will update it :)

Thanks Amy! I have no idea what I expected from this first call, but at the end of the day, he is hanging in there, he is safe, he is tired but sounds strong , and he said he loved me . What more can I ask for right? :)

Michelle0120 i totally understand how u feel. I pray things go better the next PFA. I know it wont change the time he missed on E-2. Your not over reacting, you just love him

Thanks everyone. I think he sounded sad. What happened was with the pushups. he was supposed to do 50. he said he was so excited that he did the 50, but when he was done, the recruit that was doing the counting said he only did 25. my son said he kind of gave a look to the guy like "what are you talking about, I just did 50", and the recruit put his hands out to the side to let the RDC know that he was getting attitude and the RDC disqualified him Now I am not one of those mothers that believe my son is a saint and can do no wrong, because i do believe he probably was wearing his frustration on his face and he deserved to get in trouble for that, but what he was upset about was that he wasnt able to make E-2 because he passed everything else and the pushups were the last thing. He doesnt understand how he could of counted 50 and the other recruit count half that. I am also worried that it will be another recruit that is counting the final one. What if the recruit doesnt count it right? I mean I know i am being paronoid, but I would think that one of the RDC's do the final one. All in all he said he was making friends and he was doing fine. I think i am totally overreacting and worrying for nothing, but it is the first emotion that came to mind after talking to him. Does that make sense?
