OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

331momma my son shipped out on August 5 but his recruiter gave me ship 14 division 331. I still have not received formal letter or any letters from him.. We are leaving town for a few days and I almost don't want to leave because either one should be arriving any minute! I know how you are feeling :(

Sailor mom I just received two letters from my son! It made my day. He said he got a job as a Table Petty Officer. I have no idea what that means. Lol but he sounded happy about that. Does anybody know what a Table petty officer is?

Hello everyone!!! It is a wonderful day! I had 8 letters from my recruit when I got home today!! She is focused and glad she made the decision to enlist. She stated God gave her a sign that she was in the right place! In her writing that...he comforted me. She has passed her swimming and recieved her uniform. Just wanted share because it was very encouraging to me!

My boy shipped out 8-10-15.  His recruiter told me he is on Ship 14 Division 331.  We received the box but no letter.  Anyone else in the same ship/division?

maryland_mom:  Springhill, Courtyard, Residence and Holiday Inn Express are all close together and in a great location....yes, near the Walmart shopping center that has some restaurants in it too.  Springhill is towards the back of the shopping center, Courtyard out in the front, and Residence right up the street.  Holiday Inn is close by as well.

I don't believe that Sarge tries to sell "products," but he does have his taxi service!   Go to his page on here, under MEMBERS tab up top....put in Old Sarge....you can read lots of info about him there.  He is a wealth of info....retired Army himself, in the area for over 30 yrs---is a wonderful help to the A School sailors there who have no transporation.  He and his wife put on the MeetandGreet (and provide dinner for you) each week.  He does accept any donations people want to make to help with out of pocket expenses, but no pressure (just some boxes at the MeetandGreet) and certainly not a requirement.  The dinner is free to all and all are welcome there...including young children.  Although it is in a Saloon, it is closed to the public so no worries.

We hear great things from the people who attend this...great meeting place for you all to put faces to the screen names here, and lots of PIR weekend info by Sarge.   So I would suggest you plan to attend!

Please let me know if I have made an error in the ship number of your SRs division.

Your Division Discussions have been posted up above. Please use them to get to know each other even better on a "Divisional" basis...BUT remember that you all have the same PIR date and many of you will be attending the same Meet and Greets...so please continue to post on the Main Wall here.

Also, please continue to post your questions for us "veteran moms" on the Main Wall here. We can have 7-8 active PIR groups going at one time..that's 70-90 Divisions! We try to get to the Division Discussions but with that many it is difficult! We don't want to miss any questions as ALL are important...no dumb ones...for many of you this is your first servicemember and we want to be there to help and lend support.

Division discussions now open for business!!

POST AWAY!!
