For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Comment by Josh Mom 2015 on September 3, 2015 at 12:57pm: Thanks for the info FTLW and Curlyq. How long ago did you receive the stuff from Navy Fed? Considering I haven't received his form letter yet I'm worried that I'm missing other mail as well.... not good. When I spoke to him Sunday he said he was using the correct zip code so something else is missing.

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on September 3, 2015 at 11:49am: Most Active duty Sailors will open a NavyFed account. It's easier for them, so I am sure they are encouraged to do so.

Reservists can as well. My son kept his civilian bank. His money goes in a day early just like NavyFed.

Be never knew a person could put the scare into you like the rtc asst do. Lol he has gotten 6 shots. The strep one he high in his rear hurt the worst. They carry packs that weigh 75lbs. He had passed his dep test. First day of pt they showed them just what boot camp really was. Divv343 has clicked and is really moving together and growing as a group and individually. He says he really misses home but loves it. It's also made him realize how much his family means to making him whole and he needs all of us!! I can say reading his words brought me a sense of peace. I pray all of you get your letters very soon.

Comment by sal on September 3, 2015 at 12:17am: Josh Mom, my husband has already been paid once. I noticed it on the 31st. I had been checking before that.. He shipped out on the 12th of August as well. I don't know if that helps at all.

Comment by diannep on September 2, 2015 at 9:56pm: Josh Mom.....the deposits are at the 1st and 15th of the month (a day earlier if a Navy Fed account). It usually takes 2-3 weeks after arrival before they start to come in. So...if your SR didn't have a deposit yesterday, it may be the 15th.
