OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

DHDNavyMom:  I hope that you celebrate his birthday after PIR in great fashion!  He will be in a celebrating frame of mind then!  Happy Birthday to your son!

I received mine yesterday but no little note was inside :(

Oh well I am glad to have his PIR date and address though.

Today is his 19th birthday so I am struggling a little.

It will be two weeks for my daughter on Tuesday. There's the slight chance she's in division 947 (?) since she arrived Tuesday, but given the time I received the "I'm here" call it's unlikely.

His recruiter told me ship 02 div 948. He gave me an address but it doesn't match the address on the NTC website and it is my understanding that the recruiter could have the incorrect address and mail would be delayed. I understand it is best to wait for the official word on the form letter he fills out because he won't be in the place where he can receive mail before that anyway. It will be 2 weeks on Wednesday since he left and I am sure he has to out of the processing days by now?!
