N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Welcome to the new members of this group!  Glad you found it!

leomom:  Since this is a holiday weekend (Monday after PIR). there is a slight possibility that some will fly out on Sunday rather than Saturday.  Normally the sailors are bussed to the airports very late PIR night, checking in very early Sat. mornings for their flights on Saturday.  But sometimes there are changes during holiday weekends....So, you are guaranteed until 8 or 9 pm on PIR Day with your sailor (unless he has a few hours of watch that day), when he has to return to RTC.  You also can meet him at the airport, trade off personal items like laptops/phones/a few civilian clothes, and wait with him until departure (take ID for airlines gate pass).  Fingers crossed that he would have a Sunday departure because then he has Liberty with you on Saturday as well!

Good Morning All !

Hi there!! We got the box and letter this week and I just found this group and am so excited to be able to share this experience with other moms!! Our son is ship 06 div 340. So I am in the same division as @dakotasmom and @bamafan :) I am also very appreciative of the support and information!!

I just realized today that this group was created! Thank you so much for the support from the veteran members who unconditionally answer question on newbie moms like me. My son left for bootcamp on Aug 12 and we received the box 3 days ago and the form letter yesterday and an unexpected call requesting for documents and additional references for security clearance.
He is in Ship 06 Div 339. His contract is IT so he will go to A school in Pensacola. My question is, is he going to fly out on Saturday? How long can we be with him after PIR?
Thank you! Hope every mom received the form letter, if not, hopefully tomorrow!

I believe Sarge's MeetandGreet is 5-9 pm and no, there is no limit to the number in your group.  However, he would like for people to please RSVP with the number in their group so that he can plan for the dinner (free to you)....so please look him up under the MEMBERS tab up top:  Old Sarge.......there is lots of info on his page.

Davidsmom:  We suggest business casual for the dress at PIR....there is no dress code but your sailors will be in their finest.  You will see a little bit of everything there!

livingGrace:  Very unlikely that they would fly out on Fri night (PIR Day).  but they could be bussed to airports before midnight or will be shortly afterwards to wait for flights on Fri.   They pretty much never fly out on PIR Day.

Thank you all for the opportunity for communication and support.  Believe it or not, this is my first ever attempt at communication via a social media venue (no FB...)My SR, my daughter, provided info on this site and suggested I participate before she shipped out 8/11.  We received info from her recruiter 2 days later: Ship 02, Division 948, PIR 10/9.  The 3rd day, we received her box.  Have yet to receive the form letter but decided to join in the group based on the info from recruiter.  We are proud of our daughter's decision to join the Navy -- totally her decision but with our support.  I did little research on the Navy experience before she shipped -- letting it be "her thing" to provide the info.  Night of 8/11, however, our research began.  What we have learned so far has validated that she has chosen wisely.  The info gathered from N4M site has been much appreciated. I look forward to sharing the journey and meeting new friends in a few short weeks.

Josh Mom-

I'm sure it will come tomorrow, my son arrived on the 13th and I got my letter today. I'm sure yours is in the mail :)

Betty-have you gotten the box of his belongings yet? The form letter won't come until several days after that from my experience anyway.
