~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good good morning everyone :)
chippersmom; they give them envelopes (small) & paper (small), but I send a couple extra envelopes & sheets of blank papers in every letter along with stamps. My older son (Sailor of 3 yrs) reminded me that that was useful. I also pre-label or send some labels with his & our addresses (friends, brother, sister, father, & me) so that he can spend his time writing letters not addressing the envelopes. They are very tired!!
Heidic4, they will have Columbus Day off & won't have to report until the next day. My older son graduated 3 years ago on the Friday before Columbus Day. However, he flew to CT for his school. He then "floundered" for a day because it was a Federal Holiday. At any rate, those that remain in GL for school (as my SR will be doing) will have that day off, too. They will have to return & be picked up each day, but they will have Liberty on Monday. I will be staying there as late as I reasonably can on Monday to spend as much time with him as possible.
Heidic4 so not a dumb question! I am going to be bummed if they are because I already got my plane ticket and am going home Monday early afternoon!! But happy if they get some more time off!!
Hope this isn't a dumb question-I just noticed that the Monday after PIR is Columbus Day. Does anyone know will the SR's that are staying at GL for A school have that day off too?

*connection
chippersmom: He can use his Supply card (issued to him when he arrived) to buy a phone card in the NEX.....but you can mail him one too. Get one with at least 250 min....the conne`tion from the pay phones eats up alot of the minutes. The 20 min calling cards from CallsforRecruits are a great thing, but each call pretty much eats up the 20 minutes.
Also, the other SRs are great about lending their shipmates their phone cards....until they can get their own! Some have been known to even call another shipmate's parents when the shipmate cannot make a phone call. They watch out for each other!
Good Morning!
Yes, absolutely NO CARE packages during Bootcamp....not a good thing! However, if your SR requests it, you can mail contacts/makeup for piks and PIR. Please do not send these unless your SR asks for them so that he/she is expecting the package. Label the outside what it is. They will still have to open it in front of the RDCs but will not be nervous since they know what is in there.
