I guess I'll just say Hi! I don't really know how this all works.... My son is part of Ship13Div326
Wendy- I heard you are in Arizona. Where at? We're in Tempe.
We are in Sierra Vista, southeast of Tucson.
cool, my husband is former Army, now Airforce. He retires soon, and we plan to stay here. For awhile anyway. So you have family here?
Oh, I know where that is, my husband does a golf weekend there in the summers. Did your son leave from Tucson or Phoenix? I am just wondering if they shipped out together. Hayden left on August 9 and there were 5 or 6 kids who went with him. He did say there were 3 other guys from AZ in his division that he travelled with. what is your son's name? We should ask our boys if they know each other. Hayden's rate is MM and his A School will also be right there in Great Lakes.
My son's name is Mason, he left out of Phoenix. He actually left from Sierra Vista on the 8th, stayed the night in Phoenix, and flew out to IL on the 9th. What is rate? Is that like an Army MOS, or an Airforce AFSC?...Their job? If so Mason's is AO I think that's the right initials?? And his A School will be in Florida.
My husband is AO, he is in a different DIV, but same ship and PIR.
That is Aviation Ordnance, right?
Yep
cool! I figure this out eventually lol!
Rate is the job, yes. I guess they did fly out together then. There was one girl in the group & some boys that I didn't meet, only 1 that Hayden knew. I'll have to ask Hayden if he knows him, I'm sure he does if they flew out together. Were you not able to be there that morning for the swearing in? It was really neat. And then watching them all go off together (they were just going for lunch at MEPS at the time I left) was so cool- they were like kids off on an adventure together. I kept that picture in my head, they all looked so confident & ready to take on the world. If you weren't there, if you'd like, I can attempt to add my swearing in photos to see if Mason is in any of the pictures. Of course I focused on hayden, but there were other people there too! Two of the guys didn't swear in at the same time & I really don't know who did or didn't. But I can try if you want me to. Maybe you were there, though, I know there were other parents too.
No I wasn't there. From Dep before there was a family thing were they all go up to swear just for us. I wish I could have been there, but I just had to drop him off with the recruiter, and he took a shuttle to Phoenix. If you have pics I would love to see them.
