Welcome to the discussion group for division 822.

Be very aware when posting about your SRs who are in this division. Make sure you read the OPSEC rules (everyone should).

sjtina and a couple more ladies will be joining you to answer your questions about this "800" division. Although your SR is still in BC, what they are doing may be slightly different from what the other divisions in this training group are doing. It is also recommended that you go into your "settings" (clickable link on the right side) and change your privacy setting to "private" and change everything to friends only.

Please still use the main wall to post general questions, and concerns, such as meet and greet questions etc. Specific questions regarding the 800 division should be posted here.

We “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion groups as often as we would like to, and the ladies helping out with the 800 divisions don't always get to the main wall as often as they would like.

Every single question that is asked is important
Every single concern is genuine
Every single member is important to us
We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there ladies!!!

Good Morning Y'all! How is everyone doing? Hope you are all well & have received letters from your SR by now. I got my 1st letter on Thurs. Funny how his handwriting improved. He started the letter in ALL CAPS. LOL. Says the food is actually pretty good and eats a lot so he is not starving by the time the next meal rolls around. FTLW has a questionaire for our SR's. I posted to my blog. Maybe you want to send to your SR. Funny stuff & lots of the ?s that I'm sure we are all asking.

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Good morning ladies - I made it over here as well.  =)

From the sound of it, I think we all got the same basic letter - I'm tired, I'm working hard, there is lots of yelling, the food is good, mail is better.  Just glad to know that they are hanging in there and getting through these first couple weeks of transition.

Hi Everyone,

My son is in this division, and I'm looking forward to graduation. I'm sure its going to be beautiful. I know as soon as I see him in his uniform, the tears will be flowing. The.meet and greet look like fun,do many parents attend? Does anyone know if they are staying the weekend with us, or they will be leaving on Friday ?

Hi Ruthy, Joanie and Melray

My husband and I are staying until Monday also and probably will go to meet and greet.Flannigan's seems nice, but I have never been there, so I don't know. It would be nice to meet some of the parents the night before.

Are you staying at a hotel close to the base, or close to the airport? it might be more convenient closer to the naval base,so we dont have to drive too far.I think the OHare airport is approx. 20 minutes from the base.I booked my flight.I just have to book the hotel.

Hope to see everyone

Welcome Sage! I feel the same way...bringing my box of tissues to PIR. LOL. What a great day PIR will  be,

travel booked. looking forward to meeting everyone. :)

I got my letter...YAY.. He said he is on laundry duty and if they are on spot for the whole week they would get phone calls.. I hope this works out for them.. He said he loved my letters to keep them coming.. He wrote me a 2 page letter it started out in all caps and as he went it changed to his old hand writting..lol..He had to go so he could iron his towels, socks, and under wear..

I am so happy...Thanks for all the thoughts..

yayy Mel! I cried when I got my letter too. He started off in all caps....said oops, sorry mom, brainwashed on recruit handwriting...LOL!!!

Did you book travel yet?

Yes I bought our tickets we will be in Chicago Thursday morning around 9am and will fly out Sunday at 8pm.. We are staying at Navy Lodges. Our car is rented...We are going to try to make it to the Meet and Greets..My girls want to go to Michigan Ave. to shop Thursday...And if my son gets to stay the weekend with us we are going to go to Navy Pier Saturday..If he flys out Saturday we will spend the day at the airport with him..

Question what are all of your sons jobs after basic??

My son left here going into SWCC but he said in his letter that he is thinking about changing it to Air Rescue.

SWCC...I didn't know they could change....does he have to do a new lottery or can they switch b/c they already qualified for a spec war group?

keep my # with you so we can meet up. private message me yours. same to the rest of you ladies. I am staying at the Residence Inn.don't want to broadcast my # in the public forum.

I am driving into KC to pick up my Mom, Dad, and daughter and then we are driving to GL on Thursday - not sure what time we will get in, really depends on how the drive goes.  Shouldn't be more than about 7 hours, so not too bad.  We are booked at the Holiday Inn in Waukegan.  Not sure yet about the Meet & Greets, mostly because it will depend on when we get in.

My son is AIRR swimmer.

Hello everyone!  My son is also in 822, we are coming from CA and looking into flying into Milwaukee haven't booked flights yet, kinda waiting to see if they get the weekend with us or not. I have a High school Jr. so if she can go to school Monday and our Sailor isn't in GL till Sunday then we will book it that way.  Staying at the Navy Lodge. And hoping to make it to one of the meet and greets.  My son is contracted as a Air Rescue Swimmer. So Pensacola is where his A school is also.  I am very grateful for this site and all the info and support we get here.

Looking forward to PIR and seeing everyone and our Sailors!!
