Anyone still here? Just saw a post in another group that got me looking around. Our sailor is in Jacksonville (Mayport) Florida and reenlists a bit early, he'll do the ceremony when we are visiting during a vacation in June. He's loving the Navy and eagerly anticipating his next deployment...not sure when that will be.

Laurence signed up for six years. One down, five more to go!

Cindy, I am still amazed that it's been a year! What a year! I'm not on as much as I would like. I thought with both my boys being gone, I would have some spare time, so I have gone back to school. Between work, school and a teenage daughter, I stay busy. I try to call my sailors once a day.
I'm glad to hear that yours will be home soon. I hate it when they are at sea. (I can't call.)

Lately my time on N4M has been not as often, just checking from time to time to see how things are going. Hard to believe a year ago we were all heading home after an awesome weekend with our new sailors. Mine's at sea now, and I can't wait 'till they get back in port at the end of the month. I hope you're all doing well!

I had heard about Carrier and wanted to see it, but didn't want to wait for it to be aired again, I found it on instant play on Netflix. I was glued to the screen for almost the full ten hours! I loved it! I felt that I became a part of the crew. I knew they worked hard, but I now have a new respect for all who are on board!
As for the ballroom dancing Marine, I was blown away by his courage! He never let his past get in the way of his future!
Wade142, you need to watch Carrier! He is a Marine on the ship who is SUPER graceful on the ballroom floor!

Thanks for the information about the series and it being available on Netflix. I'm going to look for that tonight. Hard to believe how much things have changed over the last year. My son's just getting settled in Mayport, FL and seems to be enjoying everything. He just got to move from his ship into the barracks yesterday, so life seems to be good!

A while back, PBS did a series on the USS Nimitz. I had heard of it, and had heard that PBS was going to air it again. Well, I found it on Netflix. It is available on the "play" instantly section. So far, I have seen the first six hours. They are divided into 10 one hour sections. It follows the USS Nimitz on a seven month deployment to the Persian Gulf shortly after 9-11. I am motivated to finish my homework so I can finish the series!

Wade, thank you for the update. I am so glad you are doing good, and you get to spend time with both your sailors.

Has anyone gone back and read the things we wrote back last August? It really gives a look as to how much we really have grown this past year!

As the day gets closer, I realize not only how much my sailor has grown, but the changes I have gone through. Do ya'll remember how we were all such a bag of nerves! I was crying every day! He would walk through the room and I would get teary eyed! This is the group who saw me through it all! ((HUG))
