Tina, I know you are excited!
Wade142, that sounds like a wonderful birthday trip! I hope he has fun.
For a few months both of mine will be in San Diego, so I'm thinking of driving out there this summer.. If I plan it right, I can see both boys and be home in time to work summer school to fund the trip. For some odd reason our summer school is in July instead of June. Then I might try to go to New Orleans for Thanksgiving once Laurence gets there.I think I like having the boys in nice places so I can have a place to go for vacation.

Wade142, what a great picture! Laurence loves it in San Diego. He loves the weather, but more importantly, he loves the new freedom. No more phase liberty.
Again, congratulations!

Wade142, I wish I could say it is easier the second time, but it's not. The only difference I found was that I knew what to expect.I wish you well.
My second sailor graduates A school tomorrow and after two weeks home, he will once again join his brother. They will both be in San Diego for about two months.
Betty, you are braver than me. I can't even look at the pictures without getting teary eyed yet alone the DVD. Our kids did such a great job.

Hello ladies! My son is in Groton and SOOOO ready to get through A school and get back to the West Coast. We talked the other night and he said he's had enough show to last a lifetime. It's his motivation to do well so he can get a good pick, hoping for San Diego -- I'm looking forward to a visit, hoping we make it back sometime next summer.

Johanna, Laurence is SO excited he is on a plane to Sunny Southern California! NO MORE snow in GL!!!! He said he will NOT miss all the snow shoveling! I think he is just excited to finally be leaving that place!
Tina, enjoy your weekend!

Well, Laurence finally graduates from A school tomorrow! It seems like he has been in GL for ever! He leaves after graduation to San Diego for FMTB at Camp Pendleton and after that (some time in June) he will go to New Orleans!

Wade142, I had two go in a short time PIR 10-16 and again 1-8. It is just as hard the second time as the first. The only difference was that the second time I knew what to expect. I still had my break down and cry moments and the mad rush to the mail box, but also, I would look at the calendar and know, oh, week 4 and know what to expect. I also had a better idea of what to ask. I also knew what to do for PIR better, yet I still found the tears flowing. The pride as the doors open and seeing your sailor for the first time. The joy of the big hug afterward was just as sweet!
Good luck as you journey down BC again.

Hi All! My son's in Groton CT at sub school and after growing up in Calfornia I think the only thing getting him through winter is the ultra thick down quilt we sent him at Christmas. He's one of many California natives getting a taste of New England weather, and what a winter they're getting! I'm looking forward to a visit, but planning to wait well into spring (or probably late summer/fall for A school graduation). As much as I miss him, I have no problem waiting for the weather to clear. I'm so fair weathered that I complain when we've had more than two days of rain - don't think I'd make it!

Johanna, Zac is lucky! My boys are so looking forward to leaving GL! Laurence leaves the end of this month. It seems like he has been there FOREVER!
At least he has finished all his tests, and now he can start doing the fun stuff!

Thank you for the offer, but no thanks. This is the time of year I think of moving south of the equator! I admire our kids still in GL! Laurence is so tired of shoveling snow!
