Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

diannep - Thank you so much. Before he left I told him to grab some stuff so that I can pack it, I promise to you he grabbed a shirt, 1 pair of pants, and 1 underwear. haha I was thinking to myself...well that should do it lol. The only thing I wonder is if he will be able to still fit his jeans. They say the will put on some weight and size while there. I am just gonna pack the things I know he likes and like you said, take it back if he doesnt want it. Thanks so much for the help.

Tara: Many who have sailors staying in GL for A School will bring personal items to their sailors. You may ask your sailor what he wants you to bring, and bring extra things. He can select at your hotel what he wants to take with him to GL A School and you can return home with any extras. By the time you have Liberty with your son, he will have seen how much storage space he has in his room and know what he wants to take back with him/send home. They can't wear the civilian clothes/shoes until they phase up which takes a couple of weeks or so. But they can have them there, ready to wear when its time!

Hello everyone. My daughter is Ship 02 Div 950. I have not received a call yet from her. I can't wait to hear her voice and to see how she is doing. Anyone else receive a call from this division yet?

I have a question for anyone here whose sailor is going to A school in the GL after bootcamp. Are you bringing clothes/shoes etc to them?

Navy14 - It is hard. I think by far this has been the hardest thing Ive ever had to deal with in my life!! I am like you and I write my son all the time. I thought that I had mentally prepared myself all the months of waiting but when it was for real, I realized that I was not ready lol. Crazy how we can be so proud and so sad at one time isnt it. :)
