Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I came across this and wanted to share with you all:
Some days are worse than others, this one has been very long.
Im really missing my sailor, People keep asking what it wrong.
Ive learned to say "allergies", becasue that they understand. It also explains the "weepy eyes", and the tissue in my hand.
But I found a place where I can go and let my tears flow free, where I can find day or night a thousand mom's like me.
So I lie when people ask becasue when my day of work is done, I know I can share my feelings with my wonderful Navy moms.

Navy 14 - Hang in there. From what I have read from so many parents is that the first call is the hardest. He will adjust its just gonna take little time. Be strong for him, it will get better.

I got my letter & box 9/8. Happy dance just to be able to send letters. Surprised his PIR date is as early as it is. My son left 9/2 with a PIR date 10/24. Any other Ship 13 Div 342 moms out there?

Good morning everyone.My son Ship 4 Div 337 i received his called Saturday morning I'm so happy to heard his voice.But make me so worried when he said he want to come home.He said he don't use to all the yelling.His tired everyday he told me they got up 4am everyday till 9pm.They give him a job folding laundry.I.m so happy to heard his voice but broke my heart at same time he misses home...

Hmmmm, Karen. Don't think there are discount sites like that. Never heard of them. You may want to check out Southwest Airlines into either Milwaukee or Chicago-Midway since they don't charge a change fee if your SR is delayed....and 2 bags check for free. Car rental is cheaper in Milwaukee too.
