Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!
Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!
Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

@karen - I know how you feel! My call was great, my SR sounds wonderful & is happy. I got off the phone and cried. I'm happy for him, proud of what he's doing, know he's happy with his decision, but I still cry. Silly!

Got my call at 6am (Pacific time). What a fantastic way to wake up! He sounded great - said they have great petty officers (Div 336) and he really likes it. Whew! It was so good to hear his voice & I could tell he wasn't just saying it to make me feel better - he sounded happy! Today is 1-3 for them.

Just got off the phone with my son in Division 338 Ship 04.
He said things were going good now, In the beginning it was difficult because they were up 72 hours straight. His Division has a great group. Everyone is doing good. I told him we went on u tube 2013 boot camp and watched what they put him threw. My prayers go out every night for my son and all others in Division 338.

I missed my son's call! I can't believe it. PetSmart with a 4 yr granddaughter and dog on a leash - no free hands to grab the phone in time. He left a short message and it was so good to hear his voice. I'm very glad to read posts of news from other recruits. Thank you!

Got to hear his voice today!!! So happy! He is so excited about his decision to join and to see what's next. He is master at arms for his unit. Not sure what that means. I'll have to look that up. He even likes the food!!! This is a good day for me. Don't understand why I'm so emotional!! Very proud

Talked to my son today Division 338 Ship 4. He told me that the people in his group were doing great and that they have a great unit. He said they were all working well together and on schedule.
I was so nervous I could barely answer the phone!

Hello All.. I got my first call today. I missed it and she called my hubby! but she was able to call me quick before she had to go. She sounds good a little home sick. She asked i send envelopes .
So she can only call once every 2 weeks :( I just read that on here. aww

...and both of my boys are now back living with me for a while....so I will have to go through the grocery store thing again one day when they move out!

When both of my sons moved out within 2 weeks of each other, one headed for the Navy.....my first grocery store visit was so very hard. It was just me and my dogs now in the house....I cried in the store when I found myself starting to buy things for them. It takes some getting used to....but it gets better as you go through the motions!
