OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

David- my son hasn't said but I would think it would be the blues since it will be colder season. I'm not sure though.

I believe it is white because they mentioned bringing a tide pen in case anything gets on their uniform...

Yeah!  Got a call for our SR in Ship 4 Div 338.  So happy to hear his voice!  He had gotten his wisdom teeth removed on Wednesday but was doing good.  He said he had gotten a couple of our letters.  He asked for pictures, so I appreciate the info diannep.  I greatly appreciate all of the info, comments and support I have received here, it has made it so much easier!  Thank You!

Comment by diannep on September 13, 2014 at 10:41pm

Congrats on the calls!

It is advisable to scan/print piks on the backs of your letters or a separate sheet of paper rather than to send actual pictures.  If an envelope is thick, the SR will have to open it in front of the RDC.  So this would eliminate that.  Also, they have very little storage space so printing piks on a sheet of paper, collage-style, allows you to send more while not taking up too much of their storage space!

Just got a call from my sailor. He said he earned this call because of a good inspection:). He says he is receiving letters, but can only write on Sundays. He said to send pictures. I think they share pictures of home with others:). I miss him, but so proud of him!
