Welcome to the discussion group for divisions 347-348.

These two divisions are brother divisions and will be training together from the beginning through BS21 their final test. Your SRs, soon to be SAILORS, are becoming friends, and some of them may be heading to A School together.

Get to know each other, your SRs are!

Please still use the main wall to post questions, and concerns, we “veteran” moms don’t always get to into the discussion groups as often as we would like.

Every single question that is asked is important
Every single concern is genuine
Every single member is important to us
We don't want to accidentally overlook any of them or you.

Hang in there!!!

Thanks for starting this discussion group. My son is in division 347. I am counting down the weeks to PIR. Still waiting to get a phone call!!!

My son is in Div 347 also.  We haven't received a phone call either, but his letter was very positive.  Has anyone made their travel plans yet?  Also, are most people planning to attend a "Meet & Greet" function?

My son is in Div 347. I received a handwritten letter from him last Friday although no phone call yet. In the letter, he sounded good and evidently has plenty of time to write letters I have found. I posted on facebook that I finally received a letter from my son and several people relied that they received one too. I wasn't feeling so special anymore at that point. :/ I did get a lot more information via his friends and other family members that he didn't mention in our letter. We are waiting to make our travel plans closer to the PIR date as the price of plane tickets have risen in our area. Not sure if we are doing a Meet and Greet.

Our daughter is also Ship 12 Div 347.  I got a letter from her last Weds. (As did several of her friends!). She sounds very upbeat and positive I am happy to say.  Looking g forward to meeting all the other parents October 26th!  Has anyone booked a place to stay yet?

Hi Ladies!  My son is in Div 348.  Any others??

His first and only personal letters so far came on 9/13 one to us and one to his GF.  His first order of biz in his letter to us was... " could you bring my cell phone and laptop  and chargers" . LOL  Now I know he misses his electronics more than he misses us!!  : )

@ Becky: he told his GF WAY more than us in a letter so I'm not special either..  LOL.    He sounds upbeat and told his GF he is happy there!  He has met 4 other guys in his division that will go on to be Corpsman also, and he said he's made a few friends that he really likes. He's never been a writer so I'm not expecting much outta him at all, but we continue to send him a stream of news from home.

We are staying at the Residence Inn. We are from CA so it was most affordable to book Southwest into Milwaukee, rent a car $100 /3 days - then drive and if for some reason his PIR changes to the next week or ?? the tickets can all be easily changed and we only pay the diff in fares It was around $1,300 for 3 of us RT.  Score!

Wishing all our kiddos the best of luck and letters to all us mom's !!

Hi Suzygurl, my son has never been a writer either but evidently he is now. Funny! We haven't booked out reservations yet and have been checking on the cost of the flight. We would like to fly out of Fresno if possible and Southwest isn't offered at our little airport. We were figuring about $1300 for 4 of us RT based on the local flights we've checked and that's not any baggage fees. We're planning on renting a car too while we are there. I'll have to keep ya posted if my husband reserves us rooms at the Residence Inn. He's our unofficial family travel agent.:)

Hello Suzygirl(12-348) My husband is in div 348 :)!

Yeah!!!! I recieved another letter today from my SR!!!!!  So far, so good!  5 more weeks!

KJmom - I was brave and made my travel plans. I am thinking I will go to the "Meet & Greet" at Flanagan's (i don't think i spelled that right).

Beckyt559 and anyone else looking for flight deals....check out Spirit Airlines I saved almost $100. They do charge extra for EVERYTHING but it was still cheeper that the other airlines. It's worthing checking them out. I just used them for a fight from CA to TX and it was just fine. They don't have first class seats so if that's what you're after don't bother with them.

We have made our flight reservations, it was $1300 for 4 of us to go from Albany, NY yo Milwaukee on Southwest. We reserved our rental car and we have hotel reservations at homewood suites.

I hope to Get another letter from my daughter tomorrow.
Has any of you ladies purchased airline tickets with hotwire.com or expedia.com?? This is my first time flying and someone told me to use one of them for my tickets.

Suzygurl & Byron's wife: My son is in the same division & I've already booked our flights also from Las Vegas, through Southwest. Haven't booked a room or car yet but will be flying in to Milwaukee on the 25th.

I've only received 1 short letter & so has my ex. No phone call other than the 1 that "I'm here-I'm safe". Hoping today for 1!!

Question: If our SR's division took so long to form, & if that already put them behind, how do they "catch up" and still make the 26th deadline? And Divisions 345-346 that formed 1st, what do they do if they get done early? I'm confused on that part! :)

Thanks Everyone! Love this site!!
