It seems like this group just got started and there are already 40 members. Wow!!! It is so much better for everyone in a PIR group when they connect and have so much to talk about. And a couple of you just got your form letter and you are already ordering ribbons. I appreciate that so much. I just wanted to say thanks to those who have ordered their ribbons in the past couple of days. I finally got the letters in I ordered weeks ago so now I feel like I can breath and my mailman can go on to live another day. I don't think he has another Navy mom on his route but you never know. For those who would like to order the ribbons to wear to PIR/Meet & Greet or just for a keepsake send me a friend request and I will send you the info. Don't forget from now until Christmas all orders come with a free scrapbook embellishment :-) There are more pics on my page if you want to see them.

I totally agree newhorizons. They need to have a copy machine there so they can make a copy to send to both parents in that situation. I feel so bad for the kids who have divorced parents who can't put aside their feelings for the sake of their children. I shared everything my daughter wrote to me with my ex-husband. And even called him and begged him to write her letters when she kept asking me why he had not written. It took a guilt trip to get him to write but he finally did. I think sometimes people get so wrapped up in life they simply forget to live and enjoy the moments they have.

I totally doubted:) Was beside myself with worry and confusion actually, could not understand what was going on when kids that went in a week after her were already sending out form letters and on the PIR list. I still don't get it frankly, but for anyone in the same boat, hang in there, took us two weeks to get the letter, it will come, just keep your chin up

My daughter left Oct 28th, Finally got the form letter today. PIR is 1/7/11, so I am finally in the right group. She said all is well, people are mostly nice, food is good.

Not usually, newhorizons. They usually just send one letter out....your son would address it. But don't worry yet....if he could only address one letter, don't you think he would send it to you? I am so so sorry, but try not to worry...your son can actually give you the info (ship/div #/PIR date) in a handwritten letter to you. He can also give you the password. For any other help you need, we can direct you to the right people. You could still try and and call the Public Affairs Office, but they have no control over who your son sends the letter to so I don't think they can be much help. Give it another week....ok?

@idahojeep: I know when your boys called and cried....oh my gosh...nothing like tugging on the mom heartstrings, right?? The hardest part for the recruits in my opinion is the emotional and mental part of it. Yes, the physcial is very challenging, for sure...but the other is pretty hard...but so necessary! The breaking down and then the building up of your sons into SAILORS! PIR will be SO WORTH IT. When my son would call home, I would "harden my heart" for a moment so I wouldn't cry...but I kept telling myself...this is so necessary for them to become sailors and mature. Mine went to bc exactly a yr ago....I can tell you....wow, changes are amazing. Are they all grown up? HECK NO! But in so many ways, they make such great strides....my son just called me last night (he is stationed now) and after we hung up, I was thinking about how much he has grown up in this year.

By the way....this group is still in the very hard part of bc emotionally....about 3 weeks before PIR, it turns around for them and they see the "prize" at the end of the journey. They get excited and determined, an adrenaline rush.....so hang in there....vent on here if you need to....we all know what you are feeling...and with 2 there....well, double the tears! Just picture those boys in their dress blues....marching around the PIR hall....at attention....it is truly an Ah-HAH moment....
