HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOYAAAAAAAA!!!! I cried like a baby when I received my son's box (last Friday). And yes, I did smell his shirt and jacket, but NO...I couldn't smell HIM )):
I received the form letter on Wednesday. We went grocery shopping last Sunday and I actually cried IN the sttore because I usually text my boy to ask if there is anything special that he wants. NO MORE root beer !!!! On Wednesday night I was missing him SO much that I actually listened to HIS ringtone on my cell phone (4 minutes of Iron Maiden playing 'The Trooper")

I called my son's recruiter for his address -
I still cry at the grocery store when I see his favorite juice and pop tarts! that boy would eat a whole box(16 count) of pop tarts in 2 days would drive me nuts and then leave the empty box in the cabinet

Hey idaho...I hear ya...spent my birthday this year by myself...my son was at boot...you know...I just kind of let my feelings be...I was kind of up and down...had a bit of a pity party....then I got out pictures of my son and thought about al we had been through...and then on the next thursday I got a letter from him that said happy birthday mom...see I didn't forget your BD I wrote to you on your BD, which he had, Sunday, October 7th (however he was all mixed up, it was the 10th)...lol...somehow it put it all into perspective...he remembered but he was so darned tired he didn't even know what the date was....we laughed about that at PIR...I bet he is remembering in his heart and wishing he could tell you happy birthday...because one thing I bet almost every "seasoned" mom would tell you is that new sailors and recruits appreciate their mommas so much more while in boot camp...lol

Wow Lala...glad you had great RDCs...our division not so much...they picked at everything....but all for a good cause I am sure...lol

Sending it the last week is really funny...because by then...they will see the humor in it...early on when they are dead dog tired...not so much...lol

Lydia...you crack me up...you folks are very lucky to have her...I would have been lost without jessica and dianne....oh my oh my oh my....lol

newhorizons...don't worry about any mistakes...we all have made them...and trust me I made some dillies...lol....thats why I have all those commandments...lol but guess what your recruit is making mistakes too so its all good....that is what boot camp is for...learning from our mistakes so we can be navy strong and come out prepared for what the future brings
