newhorizons - yup stick with us girl! lots of great advice from us Old Planks (as JessicaB refers) although Im a new old plank! hahaha

So here was my clever idea...... I used to cut the funny out of the paper (always the color funnies) and tapped to the back of my letter. That was it smelled like the newspaper but no trouble from the RDC! heheheh -- out fox the fox huh Lynne!

Lynn I never thought about inspection jeesh I hope he does not throw some of these away, I should have copied! I sent one with my fathers letters to my mom in Army and his old army pictures. It is an antique with50 year old paper...(62 almost 50)

Lynne is right space is very limited. Some moms send a big envelope with 3 or 4 stamps on it and the recruits send the letters tghey want to save back home. My sailor would put 2 or 3 in each letter she wrote home. Imagine my disappointment when she did this the first time and I thought I was getting a really long letter lol. Nope, same one page letter from her and 4 that I had sent to her lol.

I am sorry to hear that Lydia.. this is my first time to have anyone in our family go through cemo treatment. (that I remeber) my moms, mom had it but I was 6 so I dont really remember it. and things are so different now... I hope all is going good with his treatments and I will keep him in my prayers along with each of these families and all of our SAILORS.... God bless each and everyone of them!

Well I wouldn't send funnies or newspaper clippings until you find out if the RDC will allow it, err on the side of caution...now here is what you do...I like to call this out manipulating the manipulators...lol...just copy those clippings, pictures, and funnies onto regular paper and send away....lol...problem solved until you get the go ahead...lol Remember they have a very limited amount of space in their rack (underbed storage) so they can't keep a lot of stuff and if it slides out of place....yikers....points deducted in an inspection....after that happened to my son once...he informed me he was throwing out my letters after reading them...no problem I had copies of each and everyone....lol!!

You are welcome and been here done this - its a chance for me to share what I learned literally and also share the BC emotions I went through and the worries that I had (and still have) Also, I knew where to go and get the info. Im so thrilled about your mom coming home! yippie - oh how I know the road you are on... I was on it with my first hubby and now with my second

Lydia- I sell them but I only charge enough to cover the cost of supplies and shipping. I love making them and I love knowing that people are wearing something I made to such an important event. Each one is hand made by me and so are the scrapbook embellishments I make. And you can take the pin off the back of the ribbon and put it in a scrapbook. I love this site and it is a good way for me to pay if forward. I am thinking about starting an online business for the scrapbook stuff but the ribbons I have only made for N4M members.
