OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

mommacnavy you are so good at addressing everyone! so KyNavyMomma, diannep, NavyMOMT, I agree with everything mommacnavy said! TraG151 we all going think positive here! personally, my blue candles will be burning just about around the clock moving forward, Push them ANTS (automatic negative thoughts) right out of your head! I am excersising faith here for all of us.  I saw a great quote, you know the kind that people put on the back of their veihicles in white usually in window's everything from stick family, to in memory of's.  I saw this one on FB page, it said "Dont mess with me, I'm a Sailors Mom" and underneath it said NAVY STRONG!  That's what we all have to do here, my nerves so bad, I am afraid to have any type of Caffiene! lol. Back to work, check in later! The best is yet to come...

Ok a question here. My son is waiting on test results but he is right on time with everyone. He said we should know by the 27th I have so much to do. But I am scared to go get anything because what if he calls and says there is a problem? Any thoughts on this?
Comment by mommacnavy on October 21, 2015 at 12:57pm

KyNavyMomma- YES, my nerves are going crazy!  Getting so much closer to the "I'm a Sailor" call, and PIR!  I can hardly contain myself!

NavyMOMT- have fun shopping!  I need to do that too!

diannep- thanks for the weather/dress in layers info!  Thank goodness my son graduates before that actual cold season there!  I think the Chicago weather could kill us southern Californians, LOL!

TheRocksmom- hooray for that countdown! WE'RE SO CLOSE!

Momma8480- glad you were able to find your son in the pictures!  Unfortunately, my son's initials aren't one of the ones your listed :( But I will list some I want to connect with that my son is friends with: all last name first initials: D, L, C (from Southern California-shipped out of San Diego with him), L, P (from Illinois), D (from Ghana), S (from Oregon). PM me if any of these can be your recruit so we can meet in Great Lakes!
