N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Tierney'smom:  So many get sick in the beginning of Bootcamp....could be immunity system overload after receiving so many vaccinations at one time coupled with so many people in close quarters!  They get better as Bootcamp goes along...hopefully she was much better by the time you received the letter!

Excited I got a letter yesterday from my SR. I feel bad she said somehow she got really sick and doesn't want to go to medical because she doesn't want to miss anything. I hope to get my first call soon to see if she is ok.

Business casual is what we suggest for the dress for PIR, but you will see all types of dress there....from much too casual to very dressy. There will be people from RTC who will be looking for families dressed nicely to ask to sit in the VIP section....they like to fill that. So, if you want to be considered for that, dress nicely! Everyone in your group needs to be dressed nicely to be considered for this!

Ok so maybe this is a weird question, but I just have to ask.  What is the attire for PIR?  I don't want to show up in a dress and everyone else is in jeans.  I know its a silly thing to worry about, but oddball me is ready to start packing!

Welcome to the group, Momma8480!  Yes, lots of yelling going on in the beginning of Bootcamp....the "breakdown" process before the "build up" process begins.  I remember my son saying that his RDC was spitting in his ear as he yelled at him....he said it was pretty hard to take but there was a purpose in all that they do.  He was up there in 2009/early 2010 .... so the yelling continues!  Yes, your son is learning to do everything on his own....a great thing!  You will be so proud of his maturity and "military bearing" when you see him again!  It is truly remarkable!

Good Morning All !  If anyone wants to watch the PIR Livestream of today's ceremony, here's the link.  The Livestream starts at 8:45 a.m. but the ceremony starts at 9 a.m.   It finishes at 10:30 a.m.

So happy to have found this group. Received my first letter today and couldn't wait to leave work to read it. He already sounds so different!! He is maturing so quickly there, although he did comment on getting yelled at quite a bit and keeping his mouth shut. Wow!! He was joking about his first tiny paycheck and I can't believe this is my baby boy! I am so happy to have found this group. Having A bit of mom separation anxiety.. Anyone in the same spot? I am used to doing everything for him that I am having to adjust!! Thanks!! BTW, he is 370.

So happy to see that so many of you have received phone calls and letters... My daughter still hasn't heard from our boy yet, beginning to freak out a bit. This is just so hard, hope to hear something soon. This group really seems to help is all...God bless you all
