Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Yeoman are administrative support....lots of paperwork, schedules, etc.  Very important job!

To Proud Mom of Tom: Don't feel bad about not getting anything yet.  I went through that with my older by.  He left on 12-2-12 and other than my hey mom I am here, I did not get my 1st call until 12-26.  We were to get called on Christmas but too many calls were going out and they ran out of time.  I NEVER got his form letter and was panicking about that, but it all worked out in the end.  His 1st letter was a lot longer too,

Come to find out he was in a Push division and never had time.  His division did earn all of their flags and made hall of fame, which is something you will learn more about later.  Hang in there and I know exactly how you feel, as I have been there.

And because of that, is why I have been so shocked hearing from my younger one so soon.  But very pleased.

tflo2000, it's so encouraging to hear that your daughter is enjoying BC!  I don't know what a yeomen is, but how cool that she was picked to be one, as I'm sure it's something great! : )

Got a letter today and my daughter said "bootcamp is great. Nothing at all like it was made out to be." She went to the pool Friday. Part of the test included jumping off a tower. She said it wasn't so bad cause she couldn't see the drop without her glasses. She also said she was picked as a "yeomen"?

Got a letter from my son and he is hilarious. He said it's awful but will be worth it. He looks like a thumb and can not tell anyone apart, said his RDC was very inspirational.

Hello Friends~~

     "He gives strength to the weary and increases

      the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired

      and weary, and the young stumble and fall;

      But those who hope in the Lord will renew

      their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles;

      they will run and not grow weary, they will walk

      and not be faint."

jessiesmom:  Her PIR date should not change, unless she is setback for any reason.   It wouldn't be because they are a push division.

Thanks Lisa!  I am thinking it will still be on 11/6 also because she didn't mention a different ceremony date.  Thank you!!!
