N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I got my call this morning too!  So good to actually talk this time.  And I could hear in the back round others talking to their loved ones!!!  So shocked as I was not expecting this so soon.  The older one was in a push division and was busy all the time.  He did tell me mailed me a letter and wanted to know if I got it yet.

Hey Nen's mom - my daughter is also in ship 12, div 372!  No call yet.  She doesn't have a calling card but I've heard she will call from an Waukegan IL # so keeping my phone close by.   No letters yet. Waiting anxiously.  Navy Lodge booked and flights booked!  :)

Comment by ellen0502 on September 23, 2015 at 11:06am

The Navy Lodge is not on base, although it is located in the Navy family housing. Great place to stay if you can!

Since the hotel is for DoD employees you do have to give your recruits name to them, s/he is your "sponsor". They may ask you at some point to bring your Sailor to the front desk for confirmation.

Call that hotel directly, do not use the 800 number or try and book online. They do book up quickly, but they also have cancellations quite regularly, and if you keep calling (don't be a pest) once a week or so you may find rooms have become available.

I mentioned to my son who all was going to GL when he graduates.  There will be seven of us but only four to graduation, he asked if I spoke with his recruiter about this???  It's okay if more family members come to see him since he will be on liberty for the weekend, correct?

I just got a call too, he sounds great too!, Moms keep your phones with you! So true Samsmom you never know.. proud mom of tom, yes I believe on or next too, this is why I choose it, if you make reservation there, you give them your son's name, but reservation will be in yours. other than that not sure about what other benefits, just wanted to be as close as possiable to him,,  Does anyone know more infor about Navy Lodge?

Keep your phones near, you never know when they get a chance to call.

Thank you for all the info. Indeed it is very helpful and I'm getting an idea what my son is doing at this time and the next week or so.
My son is in Ship 12 Div 372. Going to school in Pensocola.I have been reading some posts but have not seen one that he is with.
I'm also hanging in there and busy writing cards or letters to him since his birthday is coming up. I don't want to be late for his card. He said that he needs a phone card since he used it already when he called me last week for a business call.
When he called last week thank goodness I answered right away and he was very surprised that I knew it was him. So I carry my phone everywhere.

I really appreciate all of the info and the time that is spent helping the new moms. I've learned so many things that had never occurred to me before. This site really is an answer to prayers. I don't always post, but I read every day. Thank you so much for everything that the veteran moms do. Before my son left, he said that he would be in GL for 92 weeks after graduation...is that correct? He's AECF.
